#1 Are the VN Commodores and VN Toyota Lexcens EXACTLY the same running gear and engine/auto management (ECUs)??
#2 How to you identify if you have the factory camshaft and factory ROM inside the ECU? Can the (EEP)ROM be reprogrammed - ie is it an EPROM, EEPROM, PROM or ROM? What is the model of it? 26Cxxxx, 27Cxxxx or 28Cxxxxx or some freaky model?
#3 Where is the ECU, in the passenger side kick panel where most ECUs are?
Cheers

Lexcens are only avail in 6 cyl.
#1 As far as I know
#3 yes
Bozz,
#2: Try the "Technical Section" under "Engine Managemant"
There should be someone there who can provide more info.
As for #1 and #3; Blackbart's answers are spot on.
The changes were trim and cosmetics only and the bits that matter were al Holden.

VN/VP/Lexan is same 6 cylinder , std it had a eprom 27c128 but can use 27c128/256/512 or 29at256.
They ran a slightly different program version than the commodore but can be fully reprogrammed no problems - although I always use the later VR/VS program in them to use all the extra features.
To see if its a std eprom look at the sticker on the top of the eprom , if its a square silver one well stuck on then its still a virgin , if not its been f****d with.:D
Hey Bart i thought the vn commodore's are 6 cyl hmm.
I don't think its the engine type that differentiates these to models. I thinks its more towards the design, logos, and materials they have used to finalize them . However they're both pretty simular to one another.
Sorry Bozz i'm not knowledgeable on the others.
