Hi, I have some queries regarding ignition timing that perhaps you smart people can answer for me ...

First of all, Does a Series II RX7 12A Rotary (Distributor Ignition) Operate in wasted spark mode, as it has been suggested to me? Looking at the distributor here, I cant see how it does.

Also, what is the duration in degrees (?) between the leading and trailing sparks? It seems rather close (< 1 deg). Could a simplified ignition system, simply fire them simultaneously?

And they rotors are 180 deg out of phase yes?

And the crux of my enquiry: I figure that the distributor spins at twice the speed of the Eccentric shaft, is that correct?

If I wished to create a distributorless (electric) ignition (building the computer myself) could i use a 13B Crank Angle Sensor? I gather this simply replaces the distributor, and assume that it rotates at the same speed (twice the speed of the eccentric shaft)

Does anyone have or know of information regarding toothing etc. of a 13B CAS ?

Any help is much appreciated, esp if someone can point me to this information on the net, or some guru who knows (and can describe its intricacies to me)

TIA

Esteban

About the only part i can answer is that the leading/trailing split is around the 10 degree mark, but it does vary between different series of motors i think. You can run them both together, but this isnt the optimal way to do it.
