I've just discovered some rust spots in the boot of my car :( :( :(, they are in the top two corners of the boot. On one side it appears to have gone through the metal as well :( :( :(
There's lotsa stuff welded around there, so I can't fit an angle grinder or anything there (a dremel may fit?). What's the best way for me to fix this?
I was going to buy a small wire brush this weekend and scrub off as much as I could get off, and then whack on some rust converter. Someone also suggested using a scringe (can't spell) to squirt some vaseline/grease into the hole? Or some WD40?

i think they meant suringe ? - id be spraying fish oil down there myself
when u say the top of the boot, are you referring to where the boot lid closes - ie below the rear window. If you are, it might be worth while to have a look around to see whether the water has got in from under the window and worked its way down...

Yup that is what I meant :) Fish oil? Hmm, that would probably be easier... Would it be just as effective?
And yes, it is in the top corner of the boot (near the parcel shelf). And yes, I believe tht is where my boot was leaking from (there was water in the spare tyre well - but no rust in there as far as I could tell. I think).

Fish oil is the tired and true substance for stopping rust - stinks for a few days, but it goes away eventually - you can actually get it in aerosol cans now as well - so using one of those and the little red straws they come with - u'd be able to spray into most places.
If the water wasnt coming in from under the window and it was actually the boot seal itself leaking, just grind back all the rust, treat it, bog it up - coat of paint and you should be right. I would be looking at a new boot seal as well if the water is getting under/over it.

Okay, have gone over the areas with a wire brush, appears I have not 1 but 4 holes in my boot :( 3 in the corners, and one on the run off rail. Water will definately be coming in through there...
So have gone over all that with rust converter, now it's all black :)
Looking at the instructions on the bog, it says to make sure to remove all oil, dirt etc - isn't fish oil included in this? If I spray fish oil all through this, I can't use the bog?
Hmm, will have to go play with some bog now :)
