And the saga continues.

Sat night car stopped, no spark, wouldn't start. I went to suss out the problem tonight (Mon), pull the coil lead off, put a test light on the coil and get some one to crank it. FARK, now the coil works and I nearly electrocute myself. Put the lead back on and car runs perfect. Ran it for 20mins idling, then 10mins driving around the block and no probs.

For the last week every now and again while driving the engine will drop to 0 rpm then cut back in again 1 or 2 seconds later. Twice I've been at idle when it does it and it cuts out and sometimes doesnt start. All I had done before the prob started was disconnect and plug the vacuum line to the vacuum storage canister (the round ball thing under the front bumper). I reconnected it tonight, after the car fixed itself.

What the hell could be wrong? Coil, ignition module, hall effect sensor? I'm baffed.

About a month ago I had a faulty throttle posistion sensor which I replaced and if you jiggle the plug on it sometimes the idle speed changes, (goes up or runs rough), although this wouldn't effect ignition would it?

Car is a 5L VN Commodore btw.

Thanks.:)

I'd get a bad arse coil, couldn't hurt when your on the gas and it may be the problem. My second guess would be the ignitor.

I'm going to change the ignition module (which I now think is the prob), a more powerfull coil and some better leads can't hurt so I'll chuck them on too.:)

If the problem persists please see your hall effect sensor.:(
