View Full Version : VL Air Flow Meter testing
i have 2 VL Commodore AFM's that im thinking of selling.
is there anyway of testing them?
cause i dont want to sell them if their shagged.
what would they be worth if they test fine?

There are 6 Terminals on the Air Mass Meter.
There is an adjusting screw is located on the same side as the connector.It is under a plastic blanking plug.
Connect an ohmmeter between Terminal 1 and Terminal 6.
Turn the adjusting screw until a reading of 500 Ohms is achieved.
That is the only service info I have sorry...have you tried substituting them onto an engine?
i havent tried them on an engine.
it would probably make sense to but i could be bothered :)

Where did you get this info from? I know it's not in the genuine service manuals. They say to adjust the screw and go off the mixture reading indicated by the red and green diagnostic LEDs on the ECU. According to the service manuals pins 1 and 6 are the AFM earth and AFM variable signal.
I don't know what the diff is between AFM variable signal (6) and AFM output voltage (3) though. Perhaps you do?
