View Full Version : Koni or Bilstein shocks to suit RX-2
Does anybody know if anyone anywhere has in stock either Koni adjustable or Bilstein shocks to suit a Mazda RX-2.
They are apparantly no longer made so finding some old stock is a last resort.

Have you tried Toperformance, 1 Trade Place Nunanwading Vic 98731722? They can make whatever Koni you like......
Can't old Konis & Bilsteins be rebuilt?
Maybe troll the classifieds?
You'd get exactly the valving you were after, too ...
Quadrant in Melbourne can make almost anything fit. Generally pretty cheap, too. Proven in Kiraween(sp?!) are the Koni importers - they use Gen 1 RX-7 front inserts with spacers under them - can't see why it wouldn't work with Bilsteins either.
I have some RX-2 rear Konis if you get really desperate and want to offer me an obscene amount of money for them...
KYBs seem to work pretty well in the rear of RX-2s... cheap too...
Thanks for the tips guys. I rang Proven and they said they no longer have anything in Koni to suit RX-2, although maybe that was a bit of a Friday afternoon blow-off!
I have e-mailed Toperformance and am awaiting a reply.
I have found a place in the good 'ol USA that says they have plenty in stock so that is also an option. About US$60 per insert which is not too bad, all things cosidered.
I know that Bilsteins can be rebuilt but finding them is the big prob. Most people who have invested in them tend to keep them for a rainy day :)
Thanks for the offer Spac, but rears are not such a problem, besides I have a few rears laying around. Fronts are a different matter though unfortunately.
Can the front struts be modified to take a different insert?
Being that it is for a Group Nc (Historic) Mazda RX-2, I'm not too sure about the rules concerning mods to the struts.
I can get them from the states, just depends on $$$. It's been so long since I bought good shocks for a Mazda, but what these days is reasonable money to pay for a set of front Koni's or Bilsteins?
