I went a looking today, and found a couple of tyres that I was interested in... Has anyone used these tyres or heard of what they are like?
Firestone Firehawk TZ100
Riken Maystorm
BFGoodrich Fairway
Kumho Powermax 768
GTRadial Champiro GTX 60
All in either 175/65R14 or 185/60R14...
Thanks!

I had a set of Kumho Powermax 768 (205 60 15) on a Peugeot 505SRDT and I was impressed with them. Maybe not a performance tyre... but a good capable tyre none-the-less for a reasonable price.
A caveat on my comments is that, even in standard form the Peugeot 505 has a pretty good suspension setup and is probably very 'tyre-friendly'.
I'd certainly buy them again.

In 185/60/14 I'd look at Bridgestone RE711 and Dunlop FM901, maybe even Yokohamam A539. They seem to be the pick of the crop at about $120-125 each...
sorry, not much help am I?

Okay, now am between:
Firestone Firehawk TZ100 (175/65R14) @ $96.80
Riken Maystorm (175/65R14) @ $95
Kumho Ecsta 711 (185/65R14) @ $89
Has anyone used these? The guy at Quickfit recon the Kumho's are better than the Firestones, and the Rikens are the tops, apparently made by Michelin...

They are great! They look alright, directional and all. And drove with them in the wet today, I've only got them on the front at the moment so I couldn't really push it too much (as the tail end kept wanting to go for a walk).
But 1st impressions tell me that my 175/65R14 Rikens are better wet and dry than my 205/45R16 Falken Ziex ZE-326. I haven't managed to really get them to let go yet, have gone once into a massive understeer but that's cause I was coming in way too hot into a corner.
I've never had $100 tyres before, so have nothing in the same class to compare them to, but yes, in summary, better than my Falken Ziex, better than the Road Champs, but not better than the Falken Azenis :p
