Hi Guys
Just looking for a bit of advice. Bought a new head unit last week end. One of the higher range Sony's. My problem is the factory head unit in the PT is quite a bit larger than the new unit.
The shop I bought it from said they had no adaptor or face plate to fit the new unit in and I needed to go to Chrysler. Chrysler were no go and the guys in a few other shops I've talked too cant help either.
So can anyone suggest a good place to go in Sydney's West that may be able to help. The part I'm looking for is a "1.5DIN to 1 DIN adaptor" to mount my head unit. I'll even give the shop the business to put it in.
thanks
Check out Autotoys (http://store.autotoys.com/cgi-bin/wfp53024.storefront/3d100f0605bc588a2750d8f5a5020622/Product/View/BESTKIT&20CF2), I think this is the kit you need. If not they have TONNES of install kits so I'm sure they'll have the right one for you.
I haven't bought from autotoys before but I have been told they are very reputable.

if you are a bit of a handy man one can be made
from a piece of 18mm MDF and some vinyl of your choice.
I did it in my Voyager and we have done a few other chryslers
at work including jeeps.
hope this helps

Give me a bit more info on what you did. I am a bit of a handy man.
I have found an adaptor but they want $100 for it. No way I'm paying that. Also looking at using a piece of polished aluminium.

ok well all I did is marked out roughly the outside shape of the old head unit including the brackets onto a piece of 18mm MDF
then cut it out and also cut out the hole for the new cradle to slip into it which I jus centered
you also have to include the brackets as such and drill some holes in them
then I covered it in black vinyl put the cradle in and mounted
it with new longer screws
because the original ones were now too short.
if you want to use some polished alloy just use something like 12mm MDF and glue the alloy to it and do the same thing I guess
I was going to try it with some ABS plastic but never got around
to it.
I hope this helps
