have u guys seen the latest zoom with the yellow RA28 celica on the front cover?? bloddy awesome..the guy has simply added 2 turbos to the stock as a rock 4l v8 lexus motor and apparently its a straight fit into these cars..hmm wonder if it fits into my rt142 corona wagon..interesting sleeper eh..
hahaha i doubt it very much that it would be a straight in fit. could you imagine the body work needed to fit one of those in the engine bay along with the turbos? and the widening of the transmission tunnel to fit a suitable size tranny for the power.
still it would be cool :)
it looks to be a relatively good fit, but that power didnt come too easily with custom inlet maniofold and exhaust manifolds and motec computer systrem and garrett ball bearing turbos and 4 motors later
it is a standard motor remember
the motor fitted in the engine bay with no mods to the bay. however, it did need fabricated mounts. he's running a 2sp auto of some sort (dont remember and hate autos LOL) so tunnel mods apparently were minimum.
gotta respect the achievement!

If they balls up the tuning part way through it would make sense, but they made such a big deal about the stock strength of them.
It was invited to run at the 4, 6 and rotary meet here in Perth a few months back. On its first run it blew a head gasket, spilt oil all over the track and it's tyres then smashed into the wall. Took about an hour to clean up :)

I have not seen this ZOOM you speak of but am currently putting a 1UZFE into my RA28, I don't know I figured take a very good engine and put it into a better looking car (I figure after the 'mustang' Celica toyota's styling dept must have started 'phoning it in! Or let the apprentice have a crack at it! I pick up my motor & auto on Sat, Yes I said Auto. Any CONSTRUCTIVE advice from anyone who has done this is appreciated!
Resurrecting a 4 year old thread, is this some sort of PF record?

I do like the way he has two posts and he seems to be giving us a stern warning about only giving him constructive help.
By the way, this is a piss easy conversion, budget around the cost of the half cut, 5 litres of oil and half a tank of fuel. A half decent DIY person should knock this over in about 30 min. Wiring will be piss easy. I imagine the completed product will run like a dream.
