Last Thirsday night my brother had my stereo stolen from his Commodore. It was an Apline CDA 7843 I think (Old style, silver face, was currrent until 99). The bastards only took a few minutes as my brother was only in the shops for no more than 10min and when he got back it was gone. So if you find anyone who is trying to sell you a stereo similar to this, with a controller I might add, then drop us a line. Bastards. I've got some other stuff about this I'll post later when I have more time.

I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with stereo theft of anything of the sort from Garden City lately, because we seem to think it's an organised thing that these people do on a Thurs night, and we have leads to who the culprits may be. The worst thing about the whole thing is my brother just fixed the damn thing himself, had a leaky switch, and baught a new harness beacuse someone had tried it previously and broken the harness. To make matters worse the car wasn't insured for theft, as it was in a runaround car he uses ocasionally. I'm not really worried about getting the stereo back, just want these people caught, if I got the stereo back it would be a bonus. If you have any info, or have had a similar experience drop us a line.:) Sorry for the long winded post.:)

maybe we could do some obvious parking of cars with fake stereos inside...have mates waiting with large objects to inflict pain...i may have a dud CD player around here....

trap the assholes in the act

I like the dud speakers idea though:D

Kit the car out with Jensen gear and then stick a huge Pioneer sticker across the windscreen. Park in the next row of cars and wait for the fish to bite.

i have found a simple solution to scaring thieves away ... just put a undercove cop light in the windscreen (not connected thou) and noboy will touch your, just make sure you don't have too many stickers on yur car :D

but i dn't know how leagl it is ...

you would think your car would be a little safer at garden city, when the state police station is right across the road.
but i suppose there's more money in speeding fines :p

btw. i also had my cd head unit stolen the other day at kangaroo point

Yeah garden city makes me paranoid.
me and a mate saw a guy jsut walking aorund one of the undercover parking lots near the movies, the one that are totally closed in, we asked him if he needed anything, he said he couldn't find his car, we told him we'd help him look, he said no i'll just go eat something. Walked briskly off. :wtf:

Then the other night, i walked out of my gf's house and down to her car that was parked on the street. opened the drivers door and i see this car coming round the corner then driving down the street with headlights on highbeam, shining straight at the car, at first i thought he was pissed, he nearly ran me over, but then they did it to every car in the street, on the wrong side of the road, then 5 mins later saw them in the other end of the street doing the same thing. Scouting for cars???
i decided to follow them at a safe distance but lost them in back streets. Red early 90's integra it was with NSW plates.

about 6 months ago at garden city my mate went in to a movie cam out and his tailgate to his VS wagon had the lock drilled out and 2 15" mtx's stollen with the box and 2 amps. They even took his SNAP-ON seat covers but they left 300 cds on the passager seat tho??? dicks.

This really makes me angry!

I shop at GC regularly and have just put a new HU in the car. I don't see why the bigger shopping centres can't have better security in their car parks. Insurance companies could pool together and help sponsor video surveliance surely they will save money on the genuine claims. the shopping centres will also benefit because more people will come and stay longer and feel more comfortable knowing their family car is safer outside waiting for them!

I live at Annerley and have just been burgled the theives got away with 10k worth of stuff. So I'm just really seething at the whole theiving scene. little bloody lazy scumbags!

Being a fellow Perthite and also shopping/going to the movies at GF I have noticed how many di#kheads there are that cruise through with music blaring and then park their cars. Ever heard of not showing what you have fella's???

There was a post a little futher up about a guy who got his subs stolen and yet had 300cd's on the passenger seat that were not stolen...WHY THE HELL WERE THE CD's ON THE PASSENGER SEAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?????

Guys, the old "look, lock, leave" mentality should be applied in all the above cases.

Don't drive into the shopping centre with your stereo up loud, don't have cd covers etc on display and don't have stickers indicating what you have got.

Just my 2c.

I thought they were talking about the Perth Garden City shopping centre also, but just realised they're referring to one in Brisbane :) .. probably just as bad here anyway.

yeah i would stay clear of garden city at night time, if you there during the day, try and get a park right near one of the entrances. I have been going to Garden City for years now, and havent had any bad luck, touch wood.

Very paranoid when parking in the car park for the cinemas.

Also dont park in the surrounding streets near the Gold Coast parklands at Big Day Out time.... 8 cars including mine got broken into in a 50 metre stretch of road. I had a few thousand dollars worth of gear including the whole subbox with 2 x 12's taken from the boot, $1400 worth of damage to the car aswell. My mate had his car keys and wallet in a bag in the car aswell, 2 days later they stole his car.
