Nissan R33 skyline factory dvd / tv / cd-rom / GPS

I just purchased a r33 skyline and it came with a factory pioneer stacker unit.

I was told it has a

NTSC TV Tuner
NTSC DVD
NTSC VCD
GPS

Does anyone have one of these in there skyline and can shed some light on it ? i want to know how i can setup GPS and get the dvd working. Do you have to use a special format for it to pickup ? i tried an aussie cd but no go. i tried a ntsc vcd and no go...


Does this unit play MP3 cd's ? is that what the CD-ROM part means ?

Can somone help me out on this ?

For starters you will need to change a NTSC to PAL converter for TV reception, a changed chip for the the DVD to read your region and you will need to find a provider for the GPS in Aust. Now considering its a factory R33 audio system. I doubt it plays MP3 as its relatively new.

Maybe you don't have the right region that's why you can't play the DVD. regardless if its NTSC. I think Japan has its own region and does not share it with other countries.

Well then.. when there is a will there is a way.. What is the japanese dvd system ? All i have to do is work out how to burn japanese vcd's and im set!!!

Any ideas ? :)

FJcoop: I'm not sure which region, but that is easy to find out. If you wish to only watch the DVD then yeah you could basically burn it that way. To my knowledge the region setting is only langugage (such as Japanese and English) and code for region security.

I think the best way to do it is to change the chip inside the DVD to a all regions chip. I remember a mate of mine here bought a Sony DVD system, thinking he had to sell the system when he left Japan. After the sales the saleman told him he could change the chip to a all regions chip...reason he couldn't tell him before is because he needed a sales 1st. NTSC converters are pretty easy, can be done by chip or a converter.
