Hey everyone,
I won't say I'm a complete newbie for 4 cylinder injections, but I come from the v8 background i.e. Holly carbs, Weiand accelerator manifolds etc.
Just wondering when guy's add injectors(obviously for increased fuel delivery) where do they add that extra injector(what cylinder). Does the extra injector pre-deliver fuel to the other 4 for example(using a 4 cylinder engine in this case).
Also how do you install further injectors into pre-existing engines(i.e tools needed for complete and proper work to be carried out).
Are there any good books on this area?
:D

you are better to get a larger size injector but thats a whole new ball game.

Thanks Meggala but was this message directed for me or for another post?
As for the website you put, you need authorization to enter.
Obviously everybody here doesn't have a clue on electronic fuel injection by judging from the replies:confused

I got straight in the the site just now it explains quite a bit about injectors keep trying.

If you add an extra injector then you add it to supply fuel for all the cylinders in the engine, not just on 1. Adding an extra injector to one cylinder out of say 4 is pointless!!! I mean you wouldn't just change one of the four carby's on a four carby engine would you?? ( if it was a 4 cylinder) especially if each carb was for each cylinder.
Adding it to exsisting injection, or OEM systems is possible, but would require you to be able to switch this extra injector off, when it was not needed, like at idle. It can be done, or you can buy a kit to run extra injectors independently from the OEM ECU, which will then do everything required to run extra injectors, supply the extra fuel for more horsepower.
I'm sure you have a very large reference library near you in Sydney which will have heaps off books on Injection systems in cars, ie OEM ECU systems.

Thanks Meggala I got into the website(don't know what happened the other day)???
Nilezy, you seem to know a lot about injection. Could you recommend any good books. What library are you talking about tafe or the normal community library(they don't really have much technical information more novels and stuff like that)
Van-15h,
Most of the technical Books on stuff like electrical systems in cars, and that sort of technical stuff is usually in a Uni, or Tafe library, or State reference library.
The State reference library in Sydney is on Macquarie St in Sydney, they will have heaps of technical books on this subject, just search for Injection, ECU, those sort of terms on their computers.
The reference library here in Brisbane has heaps of stuff, like even OEM service manuals on certain cars, so if you wanted the complete wiring diagram for a car, then the OEM service manual usually has them, very handy for doing any mods on OEM systems, or even fitting aftermarket stuff like extra injector modules, and the like.
Hope that Helps you find what you are after. :) I can't remember the name, or author of this particular book on a few different OEM systems that were used in cars from the 70's to the current systems (well almost, like the start on the 90's), but thats the sort of book you want to read, and they will have that at the state library.
