I know very little about toranas but I know it is a UC with the straight 6 in it which I am guessing is a 202.

He wants to put a 1jzgte (2.5l twin turbo toyota motor) in it and I was wondering if anyone knows whether this is even possible.

He gets free labour because his dad is very handy except for the efi side of things but I know you can buy ones with the loom already connected..

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated..

ps.. I have tried to talk him out of a torana but he reckons it will be the cheapest way to get a quick car because of the free labour

As long as there is enough room for the engine, then yes it is possible. I can't imagine the 1JZ is much longer than a 202, so it should work fine.

It would be a beast in a lj or something. The toyota has more power then the rb26dett.

I think you exaggerate somewhat, WOT-DA ... :)

Only problem I can see is manifolds & or turbos possibly fouling things; if that happens you might need to customise something. I've heard of RB30's in Toranas though, so I reckon you'd be unlucky if you had to do too much work.

In fact; Toranas had 202's, VK's had 202's; VL's were just VK's with an RB fitted. I can't think of a neat way to do it, but surely there's a relatively neat "plug-in" conversion available which you could base on VL mounts or something?

Don't forget to upgrade the diff, the original diff in a UC is basicly a salisbury version of the old banjo, and will be severely taxed by something like a 1jzgte. Maybe someone can convert a VL diff to fit, as an alternative to using a heavy 9".
