Hey all today i went to change my brake pads. I got caliper off put on new pads, but the thing is i couldnt get the caliper back onto the rotor becuase the gap between the pads wasnt wide enough to get it back onr! I always see guys at brake shops using a vice thing, but i dont have one. I dont wanna buy one, so are there other ways to spread the caliper out without that actual tool? I heard of using a G Clamp but i dont know how this would be able to push the caliper apart only closer together. Also how do i grease up the slides? what do these look like? My car is a EL Falcon.

thanks

You use the G Clamp to push back the pistons and just slide the bracket out to give the thickness. With twin piston caliper bodies put the old pad over the pistons and clamp down on it.
