I currently own a ep91 starlet (1996) with the 4efe engine and am planning to do a conversion to the 4efte engine.

The thing that I am wondering is if there is any difference between the ep82 4efte engine (gt turbo starlet) or the ep91 4efte engine (glanza).

It seems to be hard to source a ep91 turbo half cut and when ive seen ep82 half cuts for $1600 its very tempting to get the ep82.

Just need to know ANY differences between the two engines other than age ;)

thanks!

Toyota auto recyclyers
neon st sumner park.
they have them.
also try the gold caost. one of the shops down there
can get them. estimate is around the $2500-3k mark.

do it properly if you do it. ( re our emails.)

in regard to your question I *think* mechanically they are similar

keep in mind that the harnesess are different and it wouldn't be a plug and go affair as with a ep91. in short a LOT of rewiring and legal hassles. meaning the engine is OLDER than the car its going into. so the emmissions ppl are not going to be happy.

just a few thoughts.

the only difference between the 2 engines is the age and the turbo. i think the ep82 uses a c9 where the ep91 uses a c9a. the ep91 turbo is marginally better but you want feel the difference between the two.
