I have a GD Galant Sedan (77') that i am putting a VR4 into.

I am puttin a scorpion diff, and front brakes in the galant, i know these fit with little modification and there are no problems here but im stuck with what master cylinder i should use.

The master cylinder off the scorpion bolts strait on on in place of the galant one (without the booster) but the bosster wont fit it as is to big.

I have seen a couple of galants with boosters, does anybody know one that is adequate but will still fit.

or should i just belt the engine bay wall in a bit so the scorpion one will fit

do i really need a brake booster

does everyone think the brakes will be good enough

this is the first car i have done up/owned so i dont have great idea what to do in the brake department, this is the best/without spending heaps upgrade i could think of.

hi Vr4 boy...

i have a '75 GC galant with 2.6 and stock brakes(atm....i needa find some good 14" tyres before i can upgrade)

As for the boosters....meh who needs em, i find the non boosted has much better feel...you just have to press HARDER.

There is someone on this forums(Galantman) who is running a L300 van brake master cylinder, thouhg he has a very differnt brake setup than you do.

But if the scorpion fits, then use it!:D Itl keep your brake balance right;)

Brake boosters are for whimps! THe bathrurst chargers didnt even run them ....there only realy there for comfort.

Btw were are u?

Cheers Karl

If everything is working right and you have some good pads it should go well...provided your not trying to pull up from 200ks all the time ;)

Would probly pay to put a calliper kit through them with new seals ect before you put them on though

sounds like an interesting project.
booters that fit are from GC/GD galant coupe's. LB?LC lancers etc, and early L200's etc

master cylinders from these also fit, aswell as ones that have there mount bolts 90 dergees rotated to std, as the booster runs an adapter/ braket to get different cylinders on different vehicles

just dont want to go indepth if u dont want it all

forgot to say that u need to modify your pedal box/firewall , or get a pedal box to suit a booster, as the hole for the nose of the booster will no fit through the firewall or the pedal box. plus the studs will have to be removed in some spots

Im actually just fitting up the rear discs to a galant diff and then making up a bracket to hold the calipers on.

I picked the parts up cheap thats why im doing it this way.
I would like to have had the whole diff and convert it but thats the way it goe's.

Ok kool.

Well my diffs buggered so im using the whole thing!

Only problems are gonna be getting the tyres into the gaurds!

And silly me just had to go out and get some 225/60R15's ;)
THey fit....just, but with and extra 50mm offset from the scorpian diuff that may become a problem.

I have a set of 225's on my 15's and I dont think Il keep them on the car as when I lower it I know they wont fit.

I will be going back to 205's all round so that I can get some good wear and tear out of the tyres
