I know this must have been posted many times, but i had a quick look and couldn't find much in here on in tech general, so..

Can someone offer me some advice. I have a VK with *cringe* standard brakes. With *cringe again* drums. I am keen to upgrade to something better, but nothing extraordinary. I have read that a VT upgrade is good at the front, and that has been covered many times. What I need to know is:

Are their better value upgrades than the VT for around/under $1000? (Keping in mind I have not the resources nor the knowledge nor the mechanically-mided mates to perform any work.)

I want disks at the rear as well. Should I just grab a 10 bolt LSD from the wreckers with disks or convert the current setup?

I'm guessing ideally that both these things occur at the same time, but is it essential? IE - I might be able to save enough to get both done at the same time, just I doubt I can handle these brakes much longer.

Another thing, I doubt this car is going to see a motor much over 300hp. But when it does, I want it to be able to stop consistently.

EDIT: Say all up I could save around $1k by Christmas or $2k by March, what the fvck should I do?

Sorry for the long post, too.

And thanks in advance.

For under $1k the best upgrade is the VT setup.
Depending on what you option in the way of disc STD or slotted , pads..std or ebc...hoses ..rubber or stailess. It will cost between $750-$1000

For the rear I'd probably replace the whole assembly after you blow it up and get a disc rear.

I'd go with a P10331 master cylinder as its 1" . Just bend the front pipes slightly to get them into the holes.
