firstly apologies for putting this thread in general discussion but im desperate!!

Urgent help needed....

what happenned: last night i was going full throttle third gear and at about 5500rpm - 6000rpm suddenly lost power and jerked etc..slowed down to realise that the car is running really jerky and missing and shuttering etc..smoke coming out...almost stalling at idle..and constantly missing and jerking when driving..

engine is sr20 s14
mods include bigger turbo, fuel system (550cc, gtr pump, pressure reg.), microtec MT8, metal head gasket, boost last night at 1.2 kg/cm2 = 17psi when it happened...the car is stuned for up to 1.5kg/cm2..

other details include: car has been running really rich for long time ie. 2.5 years since last tune, spark plugs changed 2000kms ago and are really black now, fuel pressure runs at 50psi at idle now when its running really bad compared to about 40psi before last night...smoke is mainly black/fuel but maybe has a hint of blue oil type smoke....no oil in radiator and oil level hasnt changed..also one strange thing is that my boost gauge stopped working when it happened..its a greddy digital boost/exhaust temp gauge..

can a microtech shutdown or reset or go into safe mode or anything like that?? cold a fouled plug cause this? can a computer shit itself when detecting a problem? what the hell could it be?

help...help...help
urgent help needed...car needs to be driven everyday...
thanks..

check all your hoses between turbo and throttle body for any holes or blown off hoses and check the ic for any leaks or holes, also if you have a bov make sure it is working properly

Sounds like you lost or busted a hose between turbo and throttle body. runnig rich due to the AFM telling the puter that there is this much air passing through but it aint getting to the cylinders. This would explain the smoke, why your engine is running like shite and also why the boost gauge aint working.

I think that unfortunately you might have a big problem on your hands. If i was to to have a stab at what the problem is, it is piston related and more then likely you have shatted / burnt the ring lans out of the piston. Having loose bits of metal like that on the wall of the piston will cause an imbalance and the shuddering effect and you now have a really weak mechanism in getting oil around the piston/cylinder which is why its smoking. Hard to say if extra oil in is causing the plugs to foul and hence miss, is hard to say. I have seen it on ej20's and sr20's a bit especially when running highish boost for a while, which is why i personally dont like running more than 1bar on our engine.
I hope it is a blown hose, but if its white oil coming out the back, then it aint looking to good.

Hahahaha, damn slight typo. White SMOKE coming from the back. Had the word oil at the back of my head from the excessive smoking of the motor from oil.

problem is fixed...

it was a blown off vacuum hose from the boost gauge that t-pieces into the fuel pressure regulator and computer...that explains why it was running really high fuel pressure...when it blew off it must have retracted back through the firewall hole and into all the wiring under the dash where i found it...thats why it was so hard to spot..

thanks for all your help....and yes, luckily it wasnt some internal problem!
