haha do u think he has a optus broadband connection and wants a box to hook up to it in hope that he will get free optus tv??
Maybe .....I'm still trying to convince Optus that just because I have two of their phone lines to the house I'm not connected to their pay TV service or thier bloody ISP and as such they shouldn't charge me for these items.

I agree! I've got optus cableinternet, home phone (2 of them) connected through optus, 4 home users on the optus mobile network, and it will STILL be full price to get Optus TV....what a crock!!
I wouldn't mine paying if I was connected to and or using these services but they have taken the view that I am using these products and have started billing me without any authorisation.
I have spoken to them and they keep saying they will stop billing me and refund the charges but nothing has happened as yet.

You need to look a little harder, i know two people who have bought them before and i have seen them advertised, just so happens that when im after one there is none around.

What is illegal about purchasing an optus box, for all i know there is someone out there that has bought a batch of dead ones and repaired them.
I also have never said what i intend to do with it, for all you know i might have a grudge against optus and want to drop it off the rialto (actually being 50 stories high a busy street below that probably is illegal), so if you dont have a box to sell and dont like the contents of this thread move on, it has the same topic everytime so theres no need to keep looking you know whats in here!

Nah seriously though guys, I seen these sold before (Some people buy screwed up ones, then they buy normal ones too) and use em for parts etc.
Or replacement.
Also optus does not collect the box all of the times.
They forgot twice with my friend :D

Even if you got one of the optus set top units and plugged it into a active cable port (aka from your cable)... wont work cause its not connected to the right place in the splitter box. and further more the optus technicians send a tick signal to the box when its installed, moving the set top unit dont work cause the tick isnt authorized on a different part of the network.
Or this is so far as i understand it all.
if u know the right people u can get anything ;) including free cable......

The optus guy said to me the boxes are $400 if you want to buy it/ not give it back.
There is nothing illegal about them. They are just cable TV boxes.
Still chasing one if any one knows of one for sale.
they can turn the signal to any one particular box on and off at the press of a button.
makes we wonder how you can steal cable?
but you can get a circuit board that plugs into them that enables all channels so ive been told?
any one got any info on that?

just letting you guys know its illegal to sell these boxes if it has the optus logo on them as they are subscribed boxes some ADB boxes where sold aftermarket but beware if you using a gold card or other it can go down anytime :)
The box i have (and require more of) is an ols jerrold box, only optus logo on it is the bit that bolts onto the back so you can hook it up to the vcr n shit.

Optus dont use cards, i am assuming you are reffering to a foxtel card.

im refering to satelite as in gettin extras without payin but yes the jerrolds are the same cant sell em cause they belong to optass :)
Well optus should put something on there saying so, there is nothing on there at all that says it remains the property of optus so how is anyone suppose to know that it remains the property of optus, as you said some were available for sale and some were'nt, theres no way for the average person to know.

If you are wanting to make a comment about them being the property of optus or that optus take them back or any other comment like that dont waste your time.
You can also see in the location section that i am in melbourne, dont bother posting here that your friends have them, then organize a prize and then tell me that you live in homebush and are not willing to COD but i can come and pick them up!?!?!?!?!
