At present for a conversion, we are using Saab 900 calipers and rotors on the back of his Datsun 1200, running a Borg Warner diff. Everything is in but we've struck a problem of the pads not fitting back into the caliper. Even if we did get the pads in, the rotor is too thick to fit between the pads.

I've attached some photos of the problem so you can see what's going on. The piston won't return any further into the caliper, and we've wound it back as far as it goes. They are definately the right pads and brakes shops haven't been able to give us any help. Does anyone have any ideas on the subject????? We need help urgently as the whole rear end is finished, but we can't drop it until the calipers go on. :(

Doesn't look like the piston is all the way back to me
Should be a bolt right behind the piston next to the handbrake lever. Remove this and there should be an inhex that you wind to adjust the piston in and out. 6mm from memory.
Failing thet you need to linish the pads thinner I guess.
Are you using the SLAB disc ??
If not maybe its thinner than the one your using.

We are using the standard saab disc. The inhex in the back of the piston has been wound all the way out, which is why we are dumbfounded as to why the standard disc wont fit in, let alone the pads??? Any other ideas? Could there be an adjustment for the piston other then the inhex? They are brand new pads, it's looking like we'll be linishing the pads :(

All done now. We ended up linishing the pad a little, and we also bent the pins on the piston where the pads sit on, letting it sit in further. It was a bit tight but we managed it to fit. Thanks for your help anyway. :)

What's that I can hear.....the sound of a manifold breaking due to it's dodgy construction. I better go help fix that too. :P
