Dattoman,
I've decided to get 4 spots, I was wondering is there much difference between the alloy nissan 4 spots, rx7 4 spots and volvo 4 spot brakes?

Volvo 4 spots
Old , cast iron, heavy , great for grandma's shopping wagon but definatly not a performance caliper.

Mazda 4 spots
Light , better choice of pads , funny diffucult mounting , suits 280mm x 22mm disc

Nissan 4 spots
Light , fantastic pad choice , easy to mount , suits up to 324mm disc and 30mm thick.

It depends on what your fitting them too. Its weight. Your driving style, budget, wheel size, etc, etc.

Im using RX7 4 spots and i reckon value for money very good, but are starting to get a little hard to get now, Nissan four sports are the way to go, they come of a larger variaty of cars and are easier to source generally, but like dattoman said it dependes on your aplication

I'm not sure i agree with you there. The calipers on 100 series appear to be alloy.

actually they are an even heavier cast iron with steel pistons in them
2 pistons the same size as HZJ80 and 2 pistons larger. In each caliper

All landcruisers I have ever seen inc 100 and HZJ79 are all cast

Whats the going rate on a set of mazda 4 spots? I called a few importers and seem to be between $400 - $500 a pair.. Is that about right?

Thanks
Joel

$300 pair sounds more reasonable

Keep looking

Nissan 4 spots are great but seem to be getting a bit expensive lately. Some people get the inside faces machined down so they will suit narrower rotors eg 20mm, but that may be illegal?

May be illegal, but i'd like to see someone pick up on it.

Hey, this guy has machined the inside face of the callipers to suit a narrower rotor!....

Got nissan 4 piston on my car, very very happy with them.

You can pick them up cheap if you are friendly with someone who has them. $200-$400
