View Full Version : Difference btwn T700 and V6 4 speed...
Hi, im wondering what visual differences there are between the V8 four speed auto (turbo 700) and the V6 four speed auto. Im buying a VS V8 four speed auto and i just want to make sure it isnt a V6 gearbox.
HEEEELLP!
I thought the size of the shaft running down the guts is alot bigger for the V8? maybe its only the manuals that differ?
Sumo
Hmmm, could be right.
Are there any codes or anything that would distinguish the two?

if its the one I think...
v6 clutches are smaller shaft size is different.
not sure on coding though.
the bellhousing is different, the v8 one will not bolt up to a v6, and vice versa.
the v6 bellhousing looks very triangular with a small flat at the top, the v8 one has a small peak at the top.
are you getting the converter as well? i just measured my v8 converter, its about 300mm in diameter, the v6 one is alot smaller
also dude, the vs v8 4 speed is the electronic one, which will need to be hooked up to a vs computer to run it.. the vn - vr ones (t700-r4) are mechanical (with electric lockup, you can just wire in a switch)
VN-VP are T700, VR onwards are 4L60-E's which are controlled be the ECU.
Ahh, ok.
How much would a VS V8 one be worth? Second hand in good nick?
cheers
