Hi,
i am doing an engine conversion and i require larger brakes on the front to get a MOD plate and feel a bit safer. I rang an engineer and he said i would need discs on the back (which it already has) and ventilated discs on the front with the rotors being about 280mm to 300mm. The problem is that it has a 6 stud pattern. What cars have 6 studs that have decent brakes? Can you get rotors from another car that are not 6 stud and get them redrilled? The wheels are only 15's though so can't be too big. any other suggestions?

thanks in advance
chris

This is a joke question right ?

If it isn't then.........

WTF has been done to it in the beginning to have 6 stud wheels ??
What are the current brakes ?
struts ?

no joke! it has standard struts i think. At present it has no front brakes because it does not move. I have some 97 model landcruiser brakes that (i have been told) need to be machined to be fitted. they are 280mm rotors with twin pot calipers. If this doesn't work, any other suggestions?

I have no idea how you could possibly fit cruiser discs to a corona.
The caliper will probably bolt straight to the stubaxle. However we normally use Magna discs DBA425 for this. They are 276mm diameter.Landcruiser rotor is usually 302mm
What is the deal with this corona that you would possibly need such a huge setup ??
Why would you want to run 6 stud wheels ?

it is getting a 1jz-gte put in it. I just bought the car and the previous owner had already changed to 6 stud. don't know why? but he said something about getting the cruiser brakes machined to fit. Well, i will have to take it to the engineer and see. Can't do much on the internet without seeing the situation.

thanks anyway

Four wheels drive is you only option I would say.

Landcruiser sounds good to me. They actually have four piston calipers on the earlier models. Hilux are also good.
