hey guys just wondering what you think of tracking system's and are they worth the money? For instance a tracking system won't insure that a thief doesn't write off your car in an accident, or sets fire to it or something malicious. So whats the point? I mean I can understand if you have a one off vehicle but at the end of the day you'll still have to repair it if its been stripped or something.
I'd just like to hear from people particularly those who have installed tracking systems the reasons for doing so.
I use the tracking for notification of break in. If someone breaks into the car i get a notifcation via mobile, if they can't get me they send a armed security guard to the vehicle. I have a 6point imboliser, 2 separate 3points and by the time a thief would get around that i would hope to be at the car or at least the armed guard there if i cant be next to it. Would also come in handy for carjacking.
If someone comes and burns my car like you said it isnt going to do much but you do what you can. As you already know when alarms go off now nobody even cares, so at least notifying me so i can check it or getting someone out there is going to increase my chances of keeping my car :)

I've heard that tracking systems can disable a car from moving through an immobiliser operated by an operator via computer where the tracking equipment is. Howcome hey these turkeys still manage to flog cars with trackas. Thats good with the notification through sms though :p
I have quiktrak in my car. There is no way I would have it any other way especially cause I can't afford insurance and it is much cheaper in the long run.
If someone tries to break into my car I get a phone call If I don't answer they send a guard to have a look. If my car starts moving and the tracking device is not turned off, the car is presumed stolen. They get in touch with the police and tell them where the car is heading then shut the engine down on their direction.
If the car gets stolen and the theif writes it off in the first 5 minutes before cops catch them, well it's my loss. They won't have enough time to strip it.
how much is that system costing you WHYNOT?
$1500 installation
$300 a year
:D :D
I will take it to my next car as well.
