View Full Version : ke30 brake upgrade?????
hey hows it going?
I have a ke30 corolla and I want to upgrade the brakes on it.
But I want to do it as cheap as possible. If i can get stuff from my local wreckers then it would be good.
The only problem is that the only toyotas that he has are a ra60 celica,ke70 corolla, and a st141 corona wagon.
Will any of these fit with minimal mods? If not what else could I use?
Thanks for the help.....

Cheap upgrade you want?
Good tyres and pads!

Nothing can beat good tyres and pads, but if you really want to change your brakes (which technically means you should also engineer it), you can use ra60 celica or ke70 struts. KE70 isn't really much of an upgrade, just slightly wider discs (still unvented) and I think a bit more pad area. I've got XT130 brakes on my KE55, works wonders.
ST141 I don't think bolts in.

depoending on what caliper type you have there a couple of options,
1: australia content calipers (ie: PBR) these calipers will actually take a vn-vs commodore rear pad, which means that you should be able to get reasonable pads quite cheap!
2: Japanese content calipers, hard to find good pads for them but they do exist! i had a set of "new metals" i think they where called in my race/road car for a while, worked really well, so well that due to my rear drums not working with heat that the fronts where working overtime and got the rotors so hot that they melted the wheel bearing seals spraying hot grease over front brakes (which =no brakes, and front wheels catching on fire!), still you can get decent pads with little cost and work quite well
