While inspecting my brakes I have noticed cracks in one of my pads.
the crack lies lengthwise towards the end of the pad runing from the top lip round the edge towards the bottom lip of the pad down the centre of the pad material. The crack seems to be continous with no visible markings on the face or the backing plate of the pad.

The front pads are EBC Greenstuff, and are about 6 months old or 10,000kms. The wear is even and aprox 9mm of material left on each pad. The car is used primarly as a urban transport vehicle with 2 trackdays at wakefield. Wakefield laps were limited to 5 laps with warm up and cool down sessions.

Are they safe?
Is this a warranty type defect?

:wtf:

Not a good look!

Generally pads start to crumble like cookies when they are drained of resin but this looks to be delaminating.

Send them back to the supplier.

Steve,

I was getting a lot of shudder in the rotors as well. I had them machined before (not long after fitting the pads), shudder went away then came back with a vengence. With only a 1mm left before min thickness I had new set of DBA rotors purchased and whilst fitting them I came across the pad condition.....

at least the DBA's got the sale. ;)

I'm calling Stuart from EBC tomorrow.
