hey guys :)

im looking at buying a nissan 180sx, that has TEIN height adjustable coilovers...

only problem is, when you turn the wheel lock-lock on slow corners, or even on the spot, you can hear a strange springy-rattle noise coming from the front suspension.

now, as you hear it, you cant feel anything through the wheel, in fact the steering feels brand new.

another thing is the noise seems to move from side to side..
ie: if turning from left lock-right lock, the noise is on the left, then moves to the right.

does anyone have a clue what is causing this? is it something to do with coilover adjustment?

any help appreciated as im baffled by this. the car is otherwise in excellent condition...

regards, aidan

I think it may be the tyres scrubing on the inner splash covers under the guards. Mi ne use to do it realy bad. does not do it now as the cover has worn away?????

check your camber or castor. I had my camber readjusted and castor also adjusted and my springs stopped making that noise. Also, sometimes the springs in the coilovers might not be sitting in their proper position. They usually have a little pocket for the end of the spring to sit in. This can sometimes cause noise if they aren't in place. Hope that helps.
