Spraying your bike

Who in here has sprayed their own bike? As I said in a previous thread, i'm getting an FZR250. When I get it I want to spray it R1 Blue. Would the process be the same to spraying a car? Would the paint need flex added to it due to the fairings being fibreglass? So just remove the fairings and the tank and everything else I need to paint, sand it all back, prime it with a plastic primer? and then just spray it?

What paint and primer should I use etc. Any methods or anything that anyone has used can they explain them please, thanks guys.

yeah i sprayed mine a while back....
pretty much the same as a car....depending on how far u sand it back..ie: all the way to plastic or just to the factory primer, then u mite need a sealer as well.
other than that...primer it all up then do the usual bc/cc.
as for flex additives, u can add it if u feel the fairings are goin to bend. i personally didnt add any since the only time it will bend is wen u come off...
from there its ur choice of using 2k or acrylic. i used acrylic since i used osme left over piant i had form a previous job...but i would have preferred 2k. other than that, its pretty much the same as painting a car.
oh, if u want to put decals on, u could cc over them normally or u could bury them..so it looks n feels like it was airbrushed.

lol...blue is easy to spray...:)
i wouldnt mind giving u a hand....or doin it for some sort of payment...but it depends on where u r tho... :rolleyes:
