Just wondering ehat the top speed is on this year, I am planning on getting one as my first bike
I used to have a GPX250 (same motor). It would do 150, but anything over 130 was pretty slow going.

If you're getting one for you're first bike, you shouldn't be concerned about the top speed...
Wait until you have a bit of experience under your belt before being stupid on a bike.
The fact that you have asked this question before even owning a bike makes me fear that you are the kind of rider who thinks that shorts & a t-shirt are protective gear.
Please, prove me wrong.
only one thing to remember, close your eye's before you hit that pole at a blistering 150kmh.oh wait till you get your p plates ,then we can say, "another bloody p plater". :p

Yes, take it from someone who has had a bit of a lesson learned...
DON'T think you're king shit on a bike doing silly speeds, especially without the proper experience.
It's not until you crash yourself, or your best mate dies on a bike(as in my case), that you realise just how things could have been avoided by not being silly.
Doing those speeds is only going to end up disasterous if you can't emergency brake/manouvere the bike properly.
It may not be you that causes the accident, but you can sure as hell prevent it by taking the appropriate safety precautions.
/rant off
take it to a track, safest place to fang it, no idiot drivers and if you do crash hopefully no poles and no cars to run over your head with. my cbr250rr in my learner days coming down the highway went past the 160 mark... bloody good fun... but be warned hitting a car or coming off at those speeds kiss your skin bones hair good bye.. if you survive... you'd rather be ....
yeah my first answer would be 'not much' (top speed) closely followed by "for a good reason"
gear up, learn to steer it and go to a track to see if we're right. I was at wakefield one day, there was a bloke on ZZR who was out ALL DAY, it was awesome, looked like he was having a blast, even though he was getting blown by with R1's and race-fairing RGV's etc. He got my vote for a hell of a sensible L plater, he'll probably be riding faster than the other guys in a few years anyway, small bikes are the best to learn technique on.
I live in a very hot humid place and still always gear up before strapping myself into my blue baby, really not worth the alternative
As shifty said ask real questions before moronic ones
Somewhere around a slow jog I think.

< 50kph @ 35,000RPM.
Actually the answer is about 180 but if you're buying the zzr to go quickly then just don't bother riding fullstop.

Ah I understand.. Panic averted!
In response to the original poster; josh_182, don't worry about how fast you're going (re top speed) just learn to handle the Bike properly and carry good corner speed. Practice smooth riding techniques and after a while you'll wonder why you've left everyone behind without even trying!*
*This probably won't occur on a ZZR unless you're riding with a pack of scooters, however, when you jump to a bigger Bike you'll be able to learn how the new Bike responds much easier than if you have to learn the new Bike AND how to ride at the same time!
180?
A ZZR250..?
Tell him he's Dreamin...

a zzr 2003 model will go to 184 km/h but trust me you dont want to go that fast as you loose your licence for 2 years and it racks up $2600 worth of fines
oh yeah and its a bitch to hold onto as it gets the speed wobbles really bad
184? with a shaved monkey on it, maybe, dunno about a regular human :)
certainly not me anyway

He's asking about a 1990 zzr250 - big difference between it and a '03 model.
I'd guess the '90's model would do 150-160 tops, and would take ages to get there.
lol banshee is there a difference between them?
you would be better off with a CBR250RR or if you where set on the kawasaki get a ZX2
Again you show yourself in another thread as a dumb arse prick get an idea then come back ok?
Fast enough josh_182. Learn to ride first though before you try and find out. ;)

well actually there is no real difference from the 1990 zzr 250 and the 2003 zzr 250 its still the same engine and fairings only 3 kg difference and thats it
the zzr was built of the gpx engine but the gpx is narrower and has smaller fairings
the zzr 250 is often mistaken for a 900 cc bike cause of its size but it definatly dosent have the power
the zzr and the gpx have been around for 19 years and they are still the same today as they were back then
oh yeah and to ( bv ) i aint no strategicaly shaven monkey i was a fat f@$& when i was caught so it had enough in it
ook ook

2005ninja636 - surely there would have been some power gains aswell as weight loss over 13 years difference.... Or is it like the CBR250RR's where any "new" (ie '05) CBR250RR is simply an older model in the factory, put out at a later year

enough you two.
as for the question at hand. 175 and it took a LONG while to get there. this is a 91 GPX250. and I have full gear when I ride it.
if you are after top speed on one do yourself a favour and visit a casualty ward at a hospital first. that will show you that top speed on a bike isn't everything.
learn to ride it first (slowly eh leigh..) then work up to speed on a racetrack.
