Bosch K-J injectors.

Someone was mentioning difficulties they're having upsizing the stock Bosch K-Jetronic injectors for their supercharged 560 Merc and it got me wondering (since I'm soon to be in the market for an 80's Merc 8). I'd figured injectors were pretty much of a muchness mechanical or electronic, kinda generic. You size 'em, tap 'em, hook 'em up and off you go.
He's talking about fitting an expensive aftermarket efi setup. Would I have to do that the moment I needed to upsize my injectors if none were available from Bosch/Mercedes?
Or can I just get any old injectors that fit the bill and bolt 'em in?

Never messed about with injection before, but I know the basic basics.

try looking at some of the early AUDI motorsport (also try AUDI 200 turbo(thos cars fell to bits injectors cant bee too expensive for secondhand) or just pump a shite load of pressure onto the bastards if your trying to get power out of K-Jet it might be cheaper to go after market :rotflol:

The problem with k-jet is they already pump a load of pressure into them, the ones on mine wont even open till like 3.3bar (max pressure of about 4.4bar) :O

K-jet are totally mechanical controlled, there is no triggering of them at all, if you want more fuel you are going to have to physically increase the size of the injectors. The ones from porsche 4 and 6's from the same period were about the largest you could buy, the ones from the bmw 6 were pretty large too.

Mechanical injectors cost a mint in good condition, once they have worn out, thats pretty much it for them, even places like petroject wont repair them.
