Alonso will win, M Schu on podium, Webber 4th.
JPM is sitting out the next few after injuring his shoulder blade playing tennis :( De La Rosa gets to drive the McLaren.
Should be a good race.
Yeh tis a pity there will be no Montoya, even tho surpringsly McLaren have been a little quiet in the racing compared to the testing results....
Good to see Fisi and Renault in general finally doing some good stuff with a decent car, even tho he took out Webber last race :(
Once again, I can't wait for the next F1 race!!

The Williamsons seem to have rear tyre wear issue.
Next race in 3 weeks.....WTF!
Good race... Ferrari notso hotso compared to the dominance of the last three seasons. McLaren looks to actually be a half-way decent thing, Toyota have found out how to get massive amounts of grunt to the ground, and Renault figured out how to make the car replicate the success of the Schumacher era Benneton.
Most importantly, there was actual real-life racing in Formula 1. Great to see.
how good was it watching de la Rosa!
Imagine if he actually figures out how to overtake properly!
Nathan Tinkler
04-04-05, 06:40 AM
Cplus you are off your head- just cause itv were cheering for de la rosa doesn't mean we have to...
He should have been 2nd easily- had the car speed all race- couldn't pass cars 2 seconds a lap slower. Gimme a break. The only good part was you got to see what it would be like for an amateur to drive an f1 car.
Mark held him out with a car with no tyres for 8 laps. pedro should be sacked...
Muz
you missed the point.
I thought it was piss funny watching him run off everytime he tried to pass someone.
Bit like watching my misses play gran turismo.
Please, Please let him race at Monaco :D
you reckon Webber hit some oil/sand or just plain fucked up?
oh and yes - brundle is a fuckwit. how dare he offer advice on how to drive! when did he ever do anything :D

WARNING SPOILERS HERE:
Fair enough re the de la rosa thing.
Marks email update:
Webber bags points for sixth in Bahrain
04 April 2005 | 12:57am
For immediate release April 3, 2005
Despite a strong start to the 57-lap Bahrain Grand Prix when he gained fourth place at the first corner from team-mate, Nick Heidfeld, and then moved into third when Michael Schumacher retired, Mark Webber had to ultimately settle for sixth place at the chequered flag after a high-speed slide at turn 10 damaged his tyres.
The incident left the Australian struggling with a badly vibrating car for the remainder of the race and although Webber drove as hard as he could - keeping Pedro de la Rosa behind him for eight laps - he finally succumbed to the much quicker McLaren driver at turn four with just three laps remaining
1. M Schumacher - 2 Stop
2. F Alonso - 3 Stop
3. K Rakkinen - 1 Stop
4. M Webber - 2 Stop
5. N Heidfeld - 2 Stop
Andy, the only car that may be able to do a one-stopper is the F2005 Ferrari. Even then it would probably be faster to do a two stop race.
it was disappointing to see webber failed again under pressure
get your hand off your cock daewoo.
Ferrari's hydraulics system was a failure....
Here is an under skin photo of the Ferrari F2005
http://f1total.com/bilder/2005/gp/0503bhr/so/z043.jpg
Shows the twin 'v' radiator that packs them into a tighter space.
Another significant point is the exhaust manifold pointing forwards. This has advantages - allows for tighter bodywork around the gearbox section, it adds the exhaust gas into the air stream further before the rear end (presume less turbulence). With all the cooling air on a F1 car these days leaving the radiators through the top of the sidepods in a variety of ways, this type of manifold does not hinder the cooling system. I'd expect other teams to bring in this type of manifold as soon as they can, if they can take advantage of the style in their current chassis.
nice pics. it would be good to see it in action once it is fully developed.
Yeah Schuey showed yesterday that the 2005 car will be a top runner when it is developed. He did the 7th fastest lap of the race on his 7th lap.

it was disappointing to see webber failed again under pressure
I really hate to say it, but you are almost right here.
Almost because I think he was under pressure to drive the wheels off a car that is not truly ocmpetitive- great qualifying, and good initial speed, but from the second section of the race it is always a second off the front runners. Unless they can make this car perform much better through the middle of the race, he will only scoop up podiums due retirements.
Muz

It is disappointing to see you're still posting in a section about which you know nothing about....
Webber Tops Practice with the fastest lap of Bahrain.
Webber climbs a spot during qualifying
Webber outdrives Heidfeld into the first corner, despite being a row BEHIND.
Webber leaves Heidfeld behind as he chases after Trulli.
Webber makes a mistake (wheel into the dirt which pitched him off the road) into T10 which roots his already half-shagged tyres. He then fights off a car which is over 1s/lap faster while on afore-mentioned rooted and shagged tyres for a good 8 or so laps.
So yes he made a mistake, but far from failed under pressure. Heidfeld fell off the road while being pressured by Kimi. De La Rosa fell off the road due to his own rustiness. I am pretty sure that Villeneuve and Ralf also pitched themselves off the road during the race too.
I'm sure he isn't happy about 6th, and filthy at his own mistake, but he still brought home points, he still outraced Heidfeld, and he gave a good showing that he is no easybeat to pass, and did it without dirty tricks.
Agreed Nafe...he's no choker!
Given some more time....he will be right up there.
10th fastest lap time, *just* behind Heidfeld. The Williams ain't that quick unfortunately :(
Still, if Ralf Schu or Montoya were in this car they'd be lingering down out of the points and blaming the engineers.
with the quick lap webber produced in practice and stong showing in the qualifying, you would have expect he would be more competitive that what was displayed. his spin off didnt help the situation. the williams has obviously got a bit of speed, but they cant reproduce it in the race.

Webber stuck the Jaguar R5 on P2 at Malaysia in 2004. You reckon he was on for a podium then too? One lap speed is not everything.
Race strategy, tyre conservation/life, and extended running at high temps all come into play. Tyres were pretty stuffed by mid-race. The Williams just didn't have the balance they needed to keep the tyres working well. The fuel strategy wasn't bad, slightly less than Nick, meaning an earlier stop, but also meant the ability to jump him at the start and gap him. BMW have stated they ran the engine at its 'thermal limit' meaning they couldn't push it any harder in those conditions and with the cooling they had. Hence, 11kmh slower through the speed trap.
Even without the spin, Ralf, and Kimi were always going to pass him, if not on track, then in the pits due to being able to cut faster laps (Ralf) and a 1 stopper (kimi).
So please, enlighten us on how Webber again failed under pressure? It sounds more like you're blaming the car now?

Nafe has nailed almost everything about Webber's Race.
Its no big secret that the FW27 (2005 Williams) has a major rear end problem. The car is chewing its rear tyres harder then the other cars around it.
Fastest laps mean just that. One lap. To win races you have to real off fast lap after consistant fast lap....Something Schumacher is king at.
Webber isn't that seat on a cheque given to Frank....His there because his got what it takes. Althou, he really needs to get this podium monkey off his back, then he'll be a much better and complete driver.

Does anyone have the BAR pitstop in avi format?
That's about the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
T.
must have missed that - what happened?
It got stuck in gear - Button revved it up with it up on the jack then the mechanics dropped it down. The jack went flying a few metres down the pitlane as the car sped off
contrary to what a lot of peoples said that the williams is slow, Webber said his spin flat spotted his tyres and made the car unbalanced, and that is why he struggled.

the car was not up to the speed of the frontrunners before that as well.

Theres a better one of a Benetton guys in 1994/95, was actually holding onto the jack for a metre or two before he realised it wasn't coming loose. They recovered it down the other end of pitlane.
BAR's effort was good, but they only managed the flip the jack a metre or two - wussy BAR mechanic :rotflol:

BMW have promised to make modifications to their engines to ensure that there is no repeat of the cooling problems that Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld suffered from in last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.
Heidfeld came off worst when his engine, taking part in its second race, blew-up in the race - but even before that incident both drivers had to limit their revs because of the risk of over-heating caused by the desert climate.
And with further hot races set for later in the year, especially the Turkish Grand Prix scheduled for August, BMW know they must get on top of the issue.
BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said: "Even with the car's maximum cooling configuration, we were running at thermal limits in Bahrain and therefore could not exploit our engines to their full revs.
"That contributed to our drivers not being able to attack, or, in the case of Mark, not being able to properly defend his position during the closing stages of the race.
"The Turkish Grand Prix weekend, held in August, could force us to cope with similarly extreme conditions. By this point in time we must increase the cooling inlets to provide the engine with sufficient fresh air. "
Williams are undertaking a major development programme for their FW27 after their pre-season preparations were marred by problems with their new wind tunnel.

Looking at those lap times, Marks car was getting slower or staying the same roughly even as fuel came off during each stint.
Maybe they were cutting rpm through the race to cool it down. I wish the lap tming had the speed trap numbers so you could follow what was happening hp wise..

I wouldn't say that Webber "chocked" under pressure.
He has made 1 mistake and that was last race in Bahrain.
Fisichella was at fault in Malaysia!
Saying that, Heinfeld is doing a terrific job and to me shouldn't be 2nd driver in the team. Until the season sorts itself abit i'd have Mark and Nick as equal drivers and not 1-2.
Webber done well holding De La Rosa up, that McLaren was on fire.
If Juan was driving it, it would of been good.

There is no 1-2 driver really. They both drive the same machine the difference is the set up to suit their individual driving styles...
I'm not taking anything away from Heinfeld just my 2c+gst.
Once Williams have sorted out the cars rear end problems, which are to do with the rear downforce that doesnt help on rear tyre wear, they'll be sweet.
Funny thing is Webber had interest from the reno team, funny how things have turned out this year.

....If Juan was driving it, it would of been good.
yeah but would it - i mean are you sure? I bet he wouldn't have been going off left right and centre (good thing to watch) for a start :)
De La Rosa set the fastest lap of the race didn't he? How often has Montoya outpaced Kimi? (Genuine question)
Funny thing is Webber had interest from the reno team, funny how things have turned out this year.
Not just interest. Webber is managed by Renault Team Boss Flavio Briatore..... :)
Mark wanted to go to Williams, it was his choice, and Williams had sounded him out long before the official announcement.
Interesting article about Fisichella in this month's F1 Racing mag too. Talked about how Flavio Briatore wanted him for Renault (whether this was before or after Webber told him he wanted Williams, who knows), and the potential scenarios.
Fisichella partners Mark at Williams -> Fisi comes out on top -> Webber's value as a driver decreases -> Flavio makes less money
Fisichella partners Alonso at Renault has two potential outcomes
-> Fisi comes out on top -> Flavio's team wins
-> Fisi loses out to Alonso -> Alonso is a Flavio managed driver -> Flavio makes more money, and doesn't lose anything because Fisi isn't his driver
-> Fisi gives Alonso a scare and a hurry up -> Alonso gets even faster, develops more quickly and wins even more -> Flavio's team wins
- Fisi is every bit as good as Alonso -> Alonso is Flavio's driver in Flavio's team -> Alonso gets #1 treatment -> Flavio and his team wins
Flavio ain't just the playboy team boss.... he's a pretty damned shrewd operator. Plus he seems to always bonk supermodels..... :rotflol:
