View Full Version : 2.30 Sunday Morning - Canada

AndyMac

Who's getting up to watch the race ?

Althou BMW Williams have said they expect a good result, I can't see it happening in Canada with their engines down on low end torque and outright straight line speed.

I think we'll see heaps of tyre problems too, Canada, being one of, if not the hardest track on brakes which could see heaps of lock-ups.

Prediction :
1. Kimmi
2. Montoya
3. Alonso
4. Trulli
5. Webber
6. Fisichella
7. Heidfeld
8. M Schumacher

Villieneuve to crash out

I'm just pissed that they will show the F1 at 2:45 WST here in perth. We should at least get it at the same time as the east coast, at 12:30 WSt.

Oh well...looks like moto GP, then 150's and 250's then Canadian F1, then work!

Monday morning is going to be a shocker....:D

It will be interesting to see what Schumi can do from a decent qualifying position.

Williams and Redbull seems to be a bit off the pace compared to where they have been this year also.

Qualifying surprise of the year has to be Christian Albers beating both Jordans, Klien in the Red Bull (no slouch) and only .5 second off Webber in the Williams.

Probably carrying no fuel but nonetheless still an awesome job.

Damn it i have to sit through a few hours of the bikes still and i'm getting tired... time for some coffee i think...

I hope webber coming from the back of the grid realises this time that the race is not won in the first corner....

Well done to Sauber and Red Bull for their strong positions.

Pretty piss poor effort from Webber really.

His fastest lap pace would have got him on the podium with all the retirements.

IMOA
13-06-05, 10:55 AM
Well he would've made it onto the podium without either of his two mistakes. he's really starting to cement his reputation for being a quick driver but a poor racer.

13-06-05, 11:35 AM
While I don't doubt that the tyres on the Williams were shit, couldn't help but notice that Heidfeld had a much better start and no lockups into turn 1. Williams could have had two cars on the podium this morning :(

Nucci
13-06-05, 11:54 AM
The next few races are important for Webber. Heidfeld is getting stronger with each race and Mark has to start getting consistent podiums and get some confidence going. He has it in him, he just needs to polish his race craft a bit.

Nafe
13-06-05, 12:14 PM
No excuses for his two race stuffups, but he got snookered on the run into the first corner by being on the inside....Nick got a nice run around the otuside of the others.

Webber usually goes well at Indy, so his better qually spot for next weekend should help a fair bit.

AndyMac
13-06-05, 12:18 PM
News also suggests that Mark was highly likely to be rev-limited after Nicks blow-up.

His stuffing up, yes... BUT, his having more of a go at passing.

sejanus
13-06-05, 12:23 PM
you could tell they were worried about his engine as for the last part of the race he was avoiding slipstreaming massa to get fresh air into the engine.

But that said it was a disgraceful race for him, it would have done him the world of good to have been on the podium after starting 14th, and it's not like he had to drive the wheels off the car to get it there - it was practically gifted to him with the exception of his mistakes.

Anyway, moving on at least he can give qualifying a good crack next week.

AndyMac
13-06-05, 12:30 PM
What is the most concerning think is Mark being compared to Barrichello. Last to 3rd. Fine effort.

Mark will get there.....

fdrx7
13-06-05, 03:40 PM
To be fair, Mark was carrying a shitload of fuel on cold tyres for both of those mistakes. Always going to be a handful.

I think we've seen the demise of Williams this season anyway. I doubt they'll be able to recover from their internal issues, the relationship with BMW is beyond repair and I would expect that to effect their performance for the rest of the season. And both sides have been so unprofessional, they don't deserve any better.

RTL here in germany showed nothing else except the schumacher brothers and heidfield mostly. By the end of the race, I had no idea how the heck Barrichello managed to started from 20th and make it to 3rd. I can only assume he overtook everybody when they pitted because he was 1 stopping. Did he actually pass anyone on the track?

Webber makes mistakes loses places common theme this year.

sejanus
13-06-05, 08:44 PM
I've no doubt the car was a handful, but hell this is F1 not a weekend club meet - he can't keep making these mistakes - he should be able to handle that car.

5. Webber - yep :p
6. Fisichella - nup
7. Heidfeld - nup
8. M Schumacher - nup, but in the points so 1/2 credit.

Villieneuve to crash out - nup

2.5 from 9 - not bad, prolly better than any other tips so far this year.

I hear ya sejanus- but I prefer to blame Williams :D

I am really shocked that the BMW / Williams relationship has gone to absolute poo. I can't imagine what they expected to achieve by sniping at each other? I can only guess that BMW were complaining about lack of results, and they took that public. So Williams has to defend itself by criticizing them publically.

Sheesh, maybe it IS time for Williams to get some Renault engines or whatever...

It will be Williams-Honda nest year for sure.

Button moving accross will ensure that.

and that will stitch up bridgestone in the process.

not to mention bridgestone to toyota too - so they can rack the brain of the dude toyota poached from michelin... :D

funny stuff.

and how stupid is this guy!

Long time readers may remember my transcripts of McLaren inter-team communications (pit-to-car, pit wall-to-garage, etc) during the late 90’s and early 00’s.

Any links to them??
