View Full Version : EA race car????!?!?!?!?!?one
I was watching speedweek last week and there was some older EA/VN class racing....
Anyone know anything about it? The CAMS site doesn't list it. What are the mods allowed in this class? Are they like modern HQ class?
Thats the Saloon Cars very limited mods allowed V6/I6 motors.

The top cars on SBS at Philip Island looked quite impressive handling wise, some nice drifting. Wonder how their lap times compare with other classes?
Googled "saloon cars" and the lap record at QR is 1.25, that's 7 secs quicker than the HQ record....
Try this link for lots of info :)

Briefly
6cylinder motors with control cams and headers
Control shocks, brakes, tyres, wheels, uprights, engine management etc
a mate of mine used to race in that class.
It's around $16k to get in to but budget $20k for your first year if your interested and attend all the events.
Don't expect to win though the guy at the top owns a realeastate company and puts lots of money in to his car.
Yeah one of the blokes I know who races both a saloon and an MX5 reckons the MX5 is free compared to the VN.
Cal.
carazy thats bruce heindrich??
expect the EA/EB VN/VP to sell pretty cheap. The swapping to AU's and Vt's soon.
the commodore is the car to ahve apparently...... the EA/EB has more grunt but more weight, better track and i also think there ratio is crud.
they do 67 around wa which is 7 to 8 seconds faster than the HQ's and the saloons are 6 seconds faster than my gemini

I wonder how the Ford's Inline 6 compares to the V6?
Falcons seem to be the weapon of choice at the moment, they outnumber the Commodores about 2:1 in the National Series....
Chucky, not a bad class to race in mate, wait until Rd 2 (Rd 1 is in Goulburn this year) at Eastern Creek and come for a look - they race on the same weekends we do... ;)
Just don't even think about the National series, it'll cost you a squillion dollars - the State series is a LOT cheaper !!
