I've had a couple of these WRX things now, i bought a mica green 99 new, but saddly had to sell it after a few months due to quitting my job, and my old boss _really_ wanted one, so he has it still, that one copped limo tint and an exhaust, i didn't have much time to do anything else with it...

The MY00 below however, i had for 5 years, from new, did a heck of a lot of motorsport in it, managed to clean up at the 2002 classic rally, and took out the top driver award, would have won in the navigation class, if not for a 250 point penalty for, well, cracking the shits after 3 humungeous fuckups in the navigation sections, anyway, mistakes where made, life went on..

Car was fairly modded

Whiteline sway bars front and rear
Strut braces front and rear
Anti lift kit
subframe locking pins
camber pins all round

4 pot alcons with 330mm rotors

Front mount, was a scania truck cote cut down to suit
3" hks dump into DIY 3" staino exhaust, random china cannon muffler on the rear
more boost
cold air induction trickery
210 ps at all 4

17" OZ superturismo rims
re540 rubber on it at all time

other stuff i did, when the centre diff broke, i made it RWD
i entered it into drift comps
a burnout comp
it took part in the first ever cams sanctioned drift event <it was a demo at wanners>

it served me well, i sold it, rather saddly, to make funds available for the 33 project..

pics below and a link to a vid of me in burswood dome during the classic rally, excusing the cone i tagged, it was the fastest time, as i managed 3 of the 4 events run of the dome, 2 i anoying clipped cones, 1 i got it fair and square and the last one was directly after one of the other runs, which was a shame because the tyres needed a little less heat to slide ad easily as the other runs..

Sitting down for this

Up until i sold it, none

5 years on the stocker box, it did cop a 3rd/4th hub after a syncro failed and it was fixed under warranty, only other thing to break was the centre diff, where it popped the snap ring that holds it all together out, common problem in rex's where excessive handbraking occurs <strange that>..

the box was swapped out when i sold the car, it was still going, just very tired, 2nd, 3rd and 4th syncros where tired and crunching, 5th was close behind, grabbing second in a hurry when driving hard was almost a no go..

Trick to keeping a rex box going, use organic clutches, and good oil, it'll last for ages..

Organic clutches don't transfer anywhere near as much of the shock load a metallic/multi plate clutch send through the gearbox/driveline, less shocking, less breaking..

as for 3rd pic, coolant, it popped the hose off the remote temp sender id kludged the night before so i could have a real temp guage in the car, didn't quite go as planned, no damage was done, just spewed a bit of coolant out during the skid..
