Luckily Production Sports Cars is power to weight based so no. It will be tuned for a PWR of around 8.01 so 140rwkw conservatively with a higher boost option of around 160 for AMRS Intermarque racing. It's running the stocky IHI snail too. I have the garrett and mazda manifold to upgrade it to SP specs later in the season along with a new bottom end which should make it up to 180rwkw or therabouts. That should be fun!

That looks surprisingly good considering it's orange. Must be the black and roll cage. Where's the front bumper? I guess it'll just be a standard Mazda one?

OEM Front bar is awaiting Garage Vary splitter on the slow boat from Japan. Bar is orange, splitter is black continuing the theme.

looks great. how does your class calculate power-weight ratio?

CT
04-03-07, 08:33 PM
Lots more pics when it's stickered up:) Our classes are determined by race weight divided by rear wheel kilowatts so for me it's class C which is 8.01 to 10.9 or something like that. This car will run right on 8.01. :)

How do they prove that you are on a certain pwr? Considering you are allowed to mod your car with all the accessories like you have? Do they randomly dyno test cars engines or something?

So is there a specific ban against boost control within the cabin then?

Cool, that cage will stiffen it up nicely too.

Cal is really going to have to extract his digit now!

We submit dyno sheets and weightbridge dockets at the start of the season. It's can be obvious when someone is playing silly buggers however in cabin boost control is not prohibited. If someone is suspected, they can be dyno tested at the clubs direction. It's not hard to figure out that the dyno can be played with so yep, not everyone is honest. But that as they say is motor racing. I can honestly say I have always submitted a correct dyno chart so I can claim my $6 trophies fairly.:)

Looks awesome Chris. Didn't see you post it up the other day. You planning to run the remaining 4 enduro races at EC, QR, OP and PI?

Hi Cal - yep, that is my plan although I want a spare engine to bring to QLD - just in case!

Car might get rally rego on it, but probably won't. I am looking into the event permit situation though so it might make an appearance at the NSW Dutton rally - for some fun.:w:

You have a 5 as a road car dont you?

Seriously, 2 rego stickers & 1 rego will give you reg on the race car enough to do a tarmac rally (targa/rally tas etc) dunno about duttons though

We'd have to find time for that beer sometime this year then. :yup: Yeah be a really bugger to have the same thing happen up here again. :(

There are a couple of classes over here in Europe adopting power-weight control via GPS acceleration datalogging. There's all sorts of discussions and theories about how it might work or how it might be exploited but in most cases the same kind of expoits could be adopted by unscrupulous operators in any racing series.
I've discussed briefly with Neil writing about it for Race Mag but I'm not sure if the interest is there yet. What do you think?

Zac I reckon anything that can be cheaply adopted and easily controlled would be ideal for many race classes. There has to be a better way to control the classes like mine and I certainly know PWR the way we do it is not ideal - gentleman's rules for control are fine if everyone abides. I think you might have an audience. It can't hurt - that's for sure.
