Hello All

Brief History of the vehicle:
The car was imported from Japan in late 96 as a stock Levin Road car, during the course of 97 she was built up from scratch to the CAMS 3J Improved Production regulations in preparation for its competition debut in the 1998 QLD State championship series.

In the first few years of the cars life development didn’t really move along all that fast, I was content to just be racing & learning the ropes.

Over the last 5 or 6 years id say the car has been a constant evolution, and looking back at how it started life in 97 compared to how it sits today there has been some very major changes along the way.

Love this thing, it's a credit to you Chris... :)

Chris (and the car !!) fights well above his weight embarrassing a lot of bigger capacity cars out on the track...

If you can join NSW IPRA and do two meetings down here this year Chris you're eligible for a start at Bathurst next year. PM me for more info... ;)

Cheers,
Paul...

So Chris have you got a Wish list of things to do to the car in the Future ?

Do you run much neg camber in the rear diff ?

solid axle ftw

You bend the axle housing or Run Cv joints with floating axles like V8 SuperCars solid axle , to get the Neg Camber

Of course you can - You just bend the housing. You can easily get over a degree of negative camber and a couple of mm toe-in just with a big hydraulic press.
I run about 0.25° negative and 1mm toe-in on my racer.

love this car, any engine bay pics/engine specs?

upgarage

interesting
i stand corrected

how much does it cost to get this done
and also wont it foul where the axle spline slides into the diff centre

COS61AE86RACER

Cameron_datto,

Current diff has got .35 neg each side and 1mm toe in

Few things on the wish list

2nd version diff with floating hub conversion, Should make diff swaps nice and easy & I’ll aim for about .75 or 1.0 neg each side
(Got the ROMAC kit just need to get motivated)

Brake upgrade now that were on 15's, id like to squeeze 310mm rotors under the front & 295mm under the back with calipers off a 350z / EVO or similar

Shinybluesteel, 1x engine bay pic added to attachments for you & the rest of the crew.

Upgarage, if your looking to get a diff “bent” id suggest having a chat to the boys at diff lapping in Brisbane they did the work on mine and got it in the ball park, but we then spent 2 sessions on the wheel aligner with an OXY & some water heating and shrinking the housing till we got the desired angles

Cheers

Awesome stuff!! Spewing that I missed out on going up there for a look see. Interesting to see how much more corner speed you're carrying.

Well done Chris !! :yup:

Interesting that on the IPRA forum (where i don't bother posting since they decided to let any clown moderate it - and they go waaaaay overboard) no-one mentioned Ledger again for the second year running came into contact with Flem, resulting in a bent steering arm which ruined Scott's race....

And Justin Keys dropped onto one rotor after fuel / injector problems on the last lap which was when Flem managed to pass him despite the steering dramas...

If you have a problem Dave then feel free to send me a PM. I wasn't actually specifically referring to you but hey, if the cap fits ?? You're right though - tools like you are why i don't bother posting there thesedays...

In the meantime this thread is specifically about Chris & his awesome little Sprinter, and a bit about the Nationals - not you. Keep it that way...

Thanks for the comments Guys,

I had an absolute blast that weekend racing against so many different players within IPRA Nationally.

Very much looking forward to racing in NSW at the 2008 national championships.

Fatboy & Fish its all good boys just relax, I know some of the forums can get a little bit full on but at the end of the day its not life or death..

Nah, your right Chris, it's not so important in the scheme of things. But the popularity of the place is plummeting and it's no co-incidence that the recent editing / locking of threads and refusal to allow anyone a point of view contrary to that of the mods is a major factor...

On to bigger and brighter things - it looks like Oran Park may well be the venue for a farewell / IPRA Nationals meeting next year. That is going to be one hell of a meeting, and already i can't wait !! :)

BTW - Did you end up sending in an expression of interest for Bathurst ? We might end up with two grids if all goes well, which would be a hell of a good thing for I.P nationally... :yup:

Cheers,
Paul...

2 grids that would be sweet, perhaps Under & overs at Bathurst

Yep my EOI went in the very next day, im itching to know if i get an Entry, would be nice to take the Corolla there and see what a IPRA version can do compared to the Group A's back in the 80's.

Oran park will be huge, we have a massive number of racers up here talking about making the trip.

Agreed its painful when the threads are locked or edited when things just start to get exciting, but in the world that we live in today this kind of thing has to happen or slander suits and solicitors etc start to get involved and none of us want or need that $hit in our life.

on the forum topic tho there is a new section that's gaining momentum at the moment for a "Private Area" where the topics will be given a little more "free reign" you might say

Cheers

Sorry about hijacking your thread

Oran park will be fantastic cant wait for it, do you have to be off your P's for the nationals ??. Hopefully we can get all 4 sharperto cars there, nephews are very keen.

Re Bathurst, when do we find out if our EOI have been accepted, wont be driving myself but will be crewing for the nephews cars. Maybe the year after for me.

By the way chris love your work with the sprinter:yup:

All good mate not a problem at all, thanks for the comments on the video

P's are fine for the Nationals, Bathurst however is a separate story, im pretty sure they are requesting a national level license at a minimum.

I believe the EOI / Acceptance is due out in the first week or 2 of November

Morning All,

Few pics attached from the most recent race meeting at QR on 17th & 18th May "AMRC"

Had an ok weekend all things considered, I chased my tail all weekend with a TPS / Wiring loom fault so the car wasn’t 100% on its game, but none the less a great weekend of racing was had.

Hi All,

inspired by Sams "Update farken"

heres quick post from Bathurst 2009 / 2010 where improved Production managed to get a go as a support category.

Qual Session part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2w0qq9wTzI
Qual Session part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra45j21Sees

made a diff change after the qual session and found another 10k top end down Conrod.. was maxed out in 5th 9200 228k

Had a 2nd crack @ Bathurst in 2010, but things didn't work out so well, had a few electrical dramas which saw the weekend over pretty early, went back with a 4.3 and 4.1 in the stash this time round and things were looking much nicer, the balance of climbing the mountain vs. keeping some reasonable speed down conrod was quite good.

All things considered I had an absolute blast...
