Curious about what sort of coin we are talking here. I just happen to know quite a few guys/gals who could shit that in.

"market rates" was the term bandied about - but it is with a NSW Government department, so take good market rates and take 10% off them LOL. Good prospect for a longterm contract role though, basically they all stay til they get bored or get better offers, so in terms of stability it's a good'un.

really - i was thinking more. so where are all these high paying IT jobs? Im in Brisbane and really an unqualified microsoft everything man, plus hp openview operations, 10 years exp and nearly at the low level of that already.

this industry sucks... im sick of helping numskulls who cant use a fucking computer making double what i do and they are fucking useless at everything. we end up automating three quarters of their work functions and then they complain that they have to use a brain to interpret the reports etc to do the remaining quarter. i have done my time, i want the gravy train :) etc

You haven't noticed the world economic crisis have you?
I've got Project Managers dropping from $1200/day down to $700-ish just so they can stay in a job. If it comes down to a choice between making nothing, or making 60-70% of your previous salary, what would you choose?

If you want gravy train, wait a year or two.

oh fucking boo hoo only $700 a day. cry me a river. for them to still be working for that, it means they are still getting paid too much and they know it.

no i havent really noticed the economic crisis yet, all our clients are still busy as - lucky so far.

It's not how much they are being paid, it's a sign of the current climate. Things may not be as bad where you are, but it's not that great in Sydney.

And Project Managers are a dime a dozen, you won't get rich quick in that market atm. I recently had a role advertised and copped nearly 70 applicants in 3 days..... more than double what we usually get. It's a shit market out there right now.

if you want the money, stop helping people and move into a role where you manage the cunts who do the helping.
