What's the going price for a 400cui 4-bolt sbc these days? Short engine, no heads std bore to suit rebuild? No places seem to advertise them any more, only the 2-bolt variants.

You would have to think that if the block comes up good with a sonic test that it would have to be worth north of 800. Most 400 blocks are fucked due to core shift, as I understand it.
TK can confirm.
There was one on ebay a mth or 2 back. Block only, 4 bolt, virgin bore, went for 7 or 800 from memory.

At the moment the engine is just sitting in our shed, pulled apart. My father bought it to put into his HQ tonner but never got around to it and is now selling the car. Since work has been a bit quiet lately he's thinking of selling it as he's not going to use it and get some money back. He has a new set of keith black flat tops sitting on the shelf to go into it as well. Would have made a fun engine for the tonner :D
You'd have to get min $700 for it, up to $1k to the right person.
They are all fucked, bored to the limit, cracked, beat up & generally abused by now.
Great basis for a 427 cube street engine.
