Hey guys,

Just thought I would pick your brains on this quickly.

After fitting gslrallysport's A1RM brake pads, I noticed the other day after a high rpm/speed run and hard braking the oil pressure was in the red. (has no oil light)

I disregarded it at first, thinking, whatever old gauge, but on a subsequent test, it went full red (no pressure) and would hold this whilst I was on the brakes from high speed stopping.

Do you reckon this would have scuffed the bearings up, also the turbo uses the oil as a liquid bearing, so that could be suffering damage also?

I was going to take it to the track, but might have to forget it now.

Is the only quick solution adding extra oil to the sump?

Any thoughts on damage and quick solutions for a track day.

I'm guessing it's not just the braking, but because the braking is following high rpm and oil being in the cylinder head and not the sump?

Does this effect all production engines when modified or only badly designed ones? (It's an RB engine, so i know it is well documented in the DOHC engines, but this is only an old SOHC donk.)

Thanks.

Old mate had an oil pressure drop in his RB30ET engined Zed under braking, apparently the oil drain down holes in the head are not completely machined from the factory and the stock sump is inadequate.

So he had a properly baffled sump made and added a oil scavenge pump to the top of the head. Overfilling the stock sump may work but its obviously a risk. An Accusump would also help.

some fittings in the cam cover and sump, and some external hoses is the normal, and cheaper solution to that part
