well some of you would know the RX3 we have been playing with a bit laitly...

last night got a little bit of a power upgrade... Steve changed a few things in the motor and some boost was put into it...

it made 701rwhp on 32psi boost... not bad for a little 12a slapper...

its got a liberty pro stock gear box in it... the linkage that joins the shift bar to the fork inside the box broke... just one of those things...

he turned it to close to 11000rpm... once he hits all the shift points etc it will go fast...

well it was built to BB\OM but there is rules up in the air at the moment... as it is a rx3 it required the rails to be cut to get a 28x9 under it...

other cars run 170+ mph.. this will get there one day.. i think it is a little over geared at the moment but we will find out when a little more power goes in

i put a little in it on thursday night.. when i say a little i mean a little.. it was still on less than 35psi..

a little more was put in it for the second run then pulled back out for the rest of the runs...

it did hit over 50psi when the box broke... 12000rpm and rev limit over powers the wastegate!! LOL

I used to do some work with Barend Spits of the old evolution racing up here in Brissie whilst I was at uni...I just did general car servicing and basic engine work....We have stayed really good mates after he sold his business in 2003 and started building the car after he sold his shop. He has always tuned the engines but he's sorta been out of the game for a while so I use Chris Romano sometimes for final tunes etc but he is much better with Haltechs IMO...You're right I should probably get Phil in to do the tune. after all he did build the engine.

Saw the data log come off the Racepak, saw it opened in front of me, saw the boost before and after the cooler, the tps, the rpm and clutch trace all from that run. You tell me how to fudge Racepak data in real time as it comes out of the car and loads on the screen and I'll shut up.

Not claiming to have seen the ignition timing or the tune-up. I was looking at data as it came off the Racepak. I know SFA about what a good rotor tune looks like anyway so it wouldn't have mattered if I had.

we hired the track for a GMH torana day and it worked out to be $200 a car with a minimum 40 cars and a Max 50 Cars....we had 47 on the day but that was also for a 11.00sec cut off

What a day it was fucking hot from the minute we arrived.

Firstly huuuuge thanks go out to Dale, Dave, Chris and Chris. People forget that its not all about the driver. Without a good crew things get forgotten and problems occur.

The "little" 12a performed flawlessly. Even in the heat (and at one stage no water pump) it handled everything we threw at it (must be my good engine building :h5: ). We ran about 7 back to back passes over the day. Our best time was 8.21 and highest mph was 166. Even in the heat we managed an unreal 139.5mph half track. All these with shit 60ft times. Have some more changes to make (as always ) and will be back out there.

the thing that makes these days worth the coin is we had 6 passes, all 6 passes were different chassis settings, different boost settings, different tyre pressures,

now we go out on friday night with the 8.21 setup from sunday, the weather should be 10-15deg cooler on friday night so the track will be a little tighter and take a little more power on the start line.. so i go back to the settings on the 1st run where it over powered the track.. if it still over powers the track i can then go to another tested setting to reduce the power..

to do this testing on friday nights would take 3 meetings which would be spread over 6 weeks and still cost $150 in entry fees plus $180 in entrys for the 3 crew, thats $320 odd and 3 nights taken up..

much better value for money going to a private test day, and there is no spectators on private days!

steve will get the engine out in the next few days and check what happened there, no point crying over it just move on with a bigger and better car that will run 7's with out working hard

Firstly thanks goes to Dale Chris and Rob as well as everyone that has helped me get to this point.

Secondly I am ok. Very sore ribs and leg but ok.

I am disappointed that the car is damaged but thats the reason we have the safety measures we do. I am sure the neck brace saved more damage to me. Personally I really couldn't give a shit about a car as in the end it is nothing more then a piece of metal that can be repaired or replaced. My main concern is me.

As Dale said unfortunately the next pass we are sure was going to be the magic 7 or damn close:cry:.

Alcho12a has run its last pass. I will strip the car over the next few weeks and see whats good and whats not. There are plenty of bits I wont need for the next car and these will go up for sale.
