Went halves with a mate of mine in this. Picked it up from Sydney last weekend. Has a leg out of bed. Picked up a new block and sending that to the engine builder this weekend. Will respray it (same colour) and clear coat the nose. Aim to have it ready for the Prod Sports 1hr series next year and FOSC Bathurst.

Far out, that's a pretty serious MX5. What caused the rod to let go?

Cal
29-09-09, 02:27 PM
Seems it had something to do with a rod bolt. Not Yager, but the bloke after that who built the next motor. We have been getting good reliability and pace out of the SE I've been racing this year, so the plan is to build the same motor as it has.

45's around PI is mighty quick!! and you think there is more in it? Heavy modded GTR territory at that pace.

It's all me baby. :D Seriously don't know, but if we can get it to run similar times consistantly and get it to finish 1hr enduros it will be on the pace for the class. Will know in November when we run there in the silver car. The Lotus HPE's have been smashing lap records all over the country this year. Morgan Park 1.02 (took 4 seconds off the previous best) and Wakefield on the minute.

Should have bought an FD

Pass.

Yeah he's had it finished for ages. He is currently building a 2nd one.

Nice one Cal

Still got it mate. Had a few nibbles, but no bites. I've yet to put it on My105 though. I'm still half thinking of hanging onto it so I can go back to 2F if this 2B thing is beyond my budget.

Bags a ride if you do passenger laps. :D

Cal
30-09-09, 12:20 PM
2B cars don't have passenger seats, but I'll bolt one in once a year at our club corporate day to scare shit out of my girlfriend, so I'll take you then. :D

Love it how the first pic is leading the porsche - at least I assume it should be!

Cal

It should beat Stannard's Porker I reckon. We have had some close racing with him this year in the silver car and it is pretty basic compared to this thing. That is a genuine RSCS with real mumbo. Rumour has it, the engine upgrades this year cost $50K.

Nah it won't be on the track until next year. Perhaps FOSC Bathurst at Easter.

Dreamin. :)

It will be going to Lakeside at some point. Hoping it will be in the 57's or there abouts. Other than that, probably just the Prod Sports 1hr up here next year.

I think I saw this thing parked up on the side of the gateway just before the bridge today?

Had "Cal Ballinger" down the side, what happened?

Cal
19-07-10, 08:44 AM
Dunno, ran all day at Lakeside without issue and then just died coming up to the bridge. Quite a few of the guys stopped including TCR from here and we decided the best option was one of them drop his car at the servo on the other side of the bridge and come back for me. I put it in the garage and haven't looked at it yet.
