Started gathering parts for a new drag pig toy.
First up I'll be chasing the LS1 A4 unopened record, then will see how much is left in it before even considering the outright stock engine record which is 11.01 and probably completely out of reach :yup:
Picked up the most important thing first!
A brand new VZ Executive front bar :rotflol:

Shown here mocked up with my spare intake manifold and OTR.
Neither of which will probably make it on the car in it's final guise but it makes a nice picture.

VT SS w/99,000ks that got driven under the back of a truck should be a nice drivetrain for me :)
The crash sheared the plastic oil filler and cap off and filled the head with bits of black plastic. Will pick that shit out I guess :rolleyes:
I'm on the hunt for a VY/VZ executive to cannibalize for a bodyshell but just need to sell my current LS1 first for an injection of funds.
Hoping to get it running and on the track at Heathcote for the LSX Shootout in April. We will see..... :eek:

Gives me a wonderful excuse to piss off the cam and 853 heads and slot in a brand new GM factory LS1 cam and new set of 241 heads with new LS7 lifters and LS6 valve springs.
How do you chase an unopened record when your pulling heads and changing cams and shit ???

Yeah I understand that. Mine is unfinished business.
No unopened LS1 has ever run an 11 second pass in QLD so I want to do that first.
Then the A4 unopened record that has stood for 3 years is only 0.3 or 0.4 away.
I find it more of a challenge to get a standard engined car running quick than just throw a cam and heads or FI on it and go fast the easy way :)

Bridgestone turanza 225/60/15 from memory on standard cop 15x7 chasers.
Buy them anywhere :)
Ran 1.7 60fts and 12.3s with them. Hook up awesome for a road tyre even with a 4500 converter and 4.11s.
MT drag radials did 1.6 60ft and 12.2s with Weld Draglites. Not worth it with your car just yet.
Thanx for the info. There are three or four different "turanza" tyres. Any idea on model number?

Ran quicker than MarkOne2's PT OTR when we swapped OTRs and ran them back to back :D

I'll be leaving the stock 853 heads and stock VT2 cam in the engine rather than fit a pair of $100 stock 241 heads and a standard VY cam worth $50.
853 and 241 are the exact same heads. Just different casting techniques.
I've been reading alot on the US forums about stock internal setups and they don't allow 853 to 241 swaps. So it won't happen.
Ask Mark, we swapped his prototype carbon Kevlar PT OTR for my bunnings one. Not the plastic cracking shit you guys saw on the Internet and paid $500 for :rotflol:
I went 0.15 slower. His words "The air speed is probably better on your one".

It's not just easier, it's cheaper. Once you've done the OTR, tune and exhaust where to from there? A cam is what is going to give you the best bang for your buck from there.
If your VY has already run 11.9 at 113, haven't you already achieved this?

Nah, sold the VZ, the guy took it to Heathcote and ran the 11.9 in VIC sub-10 degree weather. Best it did in QLD was a 12.1
You still should do converter/clutch and gears before cam anyway.
It's the little things that make the difference.

100% full weight on the 12.2, 12.1 was hard cover off..
245rwkw from memory (this was nearlly 4 years ago) weight would be around 1600kg...
