I haven't done paint in a while, and the guy I used to get to mix/match colours for me has done a seachange retirement. I went to a local place with right paint code, and even a small panel to get them to match it up but it wasn't close, nt at all.

Now I'm just about to help another mate with his mum's car - we'll need a couple of litres matched to teh existing colour. Don't mind travelling *(but Melbourne northern suburbs would be nice if at all possible) and not massively concerned about price, just need someone who can look at a fuel cap/door sized panel with current paint on it, and mix new paint correct for that colour and do whatever minor tinting alterations to get it 'just right' so the car doesn't end up like an abortion (we have two doors to do)

what color? if you want it absolutley spot on you will have to blend the adjacent panels.
i can hook you up with 4L of high solid clear+ hardner for $100 but you have to travel to dandy to get it.
its not the best clear in the world but it flows well and has great depth and shine.

if you go to bodyshop in richmond he will help you out.
guys name is barry.
tell him george the old painter from noel stevens panels sent ya.

It's called 'twilight' - it's an N16 pulsar - a type of light metallic gold colour.

Nobody will tear their hair out if it's a close but not concours perfect colour match. the last place i went to, the difference in colours was so bad (and this is even though we took in the fuel flap) that you'd seriously think that they just got a tin of kill rust in the nearest basic colour to the proper colour and that was that. It wasn't just 'ooh if you look closer it's obvious' - it's more like 'cant you fuckwits afford real paint for it?'

Thankyou both for the suggestions, I'll be in touch with whichever one I end up nearest during the coming week!

!

blend the guard and 1/4 panel.
make sure that the color isnt too light or dark on the flip either, nothing worse than doing the job, standing back and seeing 2 shades.

golds are great to spray. have fun
