Videos load slow as here @ work so will have to watch the above ones at home, however here are some I took on the last trip to Morgan Quarry in the riverland, SA in February this year. All done with my Sony DSC-HX5V 1080i point & shoot camera. Very impressed with the quality & image stabilisation on this, given it's a < $300 handheld cam that fits in your pocket! Sorry about the wind noise > typical of small video cams with tiny mics! These are unedited as I'm still learning video editing stuff!

Edit - all below vids available in 1080p HD.

Me in the Paj - didn't think I'd make it up here but as it turned out was a walk in the park! I'm a very novice 4x4er. :D

K_pSwq8ZBao

I tried this hill in the Paj and couldn't make it. Down was OK, but going up I had to go around. :knock:

jiqMY9iegLI

'Widowmaker' hill - didn't think this would end up well, but he made it...

0R27Tngqyco

I wouldn't even consider attempting this in the Pajero, but this SWB Maverick with a 4.2 TD (Disco Potato turbo) made it look like child's play!

1s0aqmojmxg

Finally, this vid turned out better than expected with the entries & exits of all vehicles involved, particularly the 100 series at the end....

Cayenne S with off road technololgy package with G-wagen off road. Sure a Land Cruiser/Patrol will do it just as easy, but you don't expect a Cayenne to do it.

19-01-12, 12:53 AM
Man I would get a Cayenne and go bush bashing if they weren't so unprotected. They can chop an SS at the track too according to motor, very impressive. Someone in Vic has done one, has twin snorkels for the v8 looks awesome.

You got enough pull over there to get a brother unbanned? PeterAawen4x4 is a fucking knob jockey but I promise i'll refrain from pointing it out :D

Seems it's the only forum around where you get banned for something said to another member via PM. Fucking little bitch complained to the mods and they banned me lol. Most forums they tell you to take your shit to PM, that don't work either!

Far as im concerned anyone that openly admits to towing their caravan at 80km/h just to piss off other drivers deserves a gearbox to the head. How is offering that service ban worthy?!?

thedude
03-02-12, 08:15 AM
Had this happened last September I might have been able to do something, unfortunately I got retrenched.

The mods do stick together a fair bit over there and while we were doing the show tour last year, we met a few of them at the shows and they got chummy with the right people. So unless it's a perma-ban, you'll probably just have to wait it out.

JohnMcSandyVag
03-02-12, 02:29 PM
Happened ages ago, well over a year I think. Pretty sure its permanent. It's all good mate, they are fucking tossers and I just got sick of tip toeing around the butt fucker mods. I think I even told them at one point to go to PF and checkout how a real forum is moderated. It's a sad fucking site, just mentioning anything bad about any workshop, let alone ARB was enough for a ban lol.

thedude
03-02-12, 04:33 PM
Yeah sounds about right unfortunately. But that's what happens when you've got a forum associated with a brand like 4WD Action and has advertiser involvement, you lose alot of the freedom we take for granted on this forum.

This is nothing against the mag, I'm still writing for them freelance and I'm still friendly with the guys there. But with the forum alot of it comes down to managment directive and advertisers. I honestly don't think magazines should have their own forums for these reasons.

They are pretty impressive, to be honest I think first gen was a case of Porsche going FU to everyone simply because they could. I honestly think the current one, without low range, actually makes more sense considering the target market. 99% of Cayenne owners wouldn't take them on dirt.
I would be one of 1% that would!

04-02-12, 05:27 PM
cmon a rav 4 with AT's and centre diff lock would have done all that, cruisers, patrols, landies and g wagons (with a non retard driver) would have died from boredom on that course.

impressive, it is not.

1986 ARB Demo tape. I suspect this was to be run on a TV in the showroom as after the initial intro there's no talking only bad '80s electric funk music. This was filmed on the infamous Wirraba Ridge track which was shut down to 4WDs in '96.

That MWB was an awesome truck. It was loaned to me for a weekend when my Pajero was in getting some Suspension and Bar work. It was supposed to be finished by Friday afternoon as we were heading away to do Long Angle Gully over the weekend. They ran into problems so threw me the keys to the 73 and said bring it back on Monday in one piece.... Farken woot !!!

When it came up for sale, I missed out on buying it by about 2hours waiting for my finance to be approved... - Fuck you NAB I am still bitter about missing out on it....
