View Full Version : Glasshouse Mtns, where to go?

So I'm going to go to the Glasshouse Mtns with a couple of mates (4 4wd's max) and while we want to have some fun, we won't be doing anything crazy.

I've been there a couple of times but only ever gone on some of the side tracks off the power line rd between Twin View Rd and Woodford-Beerburrum Rd. While they were fun I don't think they'd be suitable with a small convoy. I'd really like to find few tracks we can go drive along for a while.

So, I know there are some people who have spent a shit load of time up there. Can those people who know the area put up some suggestions and hopefully mark on a map where some interesting tracks are. I know google maps sometimes can't be trusted but its a good start.

Thanks guys.

Kev

Edit: After doing some more reading I haven't been going on the "Power line track" but the dirt road that follows the main high tension power lines between Twin View and Woodford-Beerburrum rds.

Realised after having a look over maps and so on I've ever really been into Beerburrum State Forest, rather than the Glasshouse Mountains National Park.

Question still stands tho, where to go?!?!

Cheers

Edit: and after reading on the derm site it seems that there is 4wding in the Glasshouse NP, only Beerburrum...well, there you go. Maybe I should rename the thread!

so instead of off roading, you've basically been just driving up the energex maintenance road?

i'm keen to know of these spots too - what are you driving kev?

haha, well, sort of. I've definitely had to get into low range, but thats only cause I'm interested to see how it goes. A few of the side tracks off that road do need 4wd.

If I find anything good I'll post it up.

ScuabSteve. I've been there but the extra hours drive each way plus the cost to get in is a bit silly. Its a great place with shiteload of tracks, but I think I prefer being "in the wild" rather than a park.

Follow the powerlne tracks off Woodford-Beerburrum road and just explore - there is heaps around.

What ever you do watch out for us dirtbikers - I really loath dickheads in 4x4's on the tracks up there that I try and stay to single tracks the 4x4's cant go. (most are fine, and just like dirtbikes its the behaviour of a few that ruin it for everyone else)

Last weekend we went for a run and there were some knobs with a Suzuki swift!! No front bumper left and it wouldn't get through most obstacles so they took turns shoving it through the bogs with the bullbars on their sick 4bys

Bet they tipped it on its lid, burnt it and left it there when finished

Thanks guys.

I've got a couple of PM's with some "secret" tracks as well.

As for dirtbikes, yeh, I look out for them. I gotta say most of them are pretty good although have seen a few dicks too.

I'd be happy for you to come along mate. Just trying to organise the right weekend.

One of the other guys has the same car as you and has been so you'll be fine.

I'll keep in touch.
