View Full Version : 350z Roadster/SR20DET Pro Level Drift Car Build
Most of you know some of my old cars, the orange RB26DETT S13 silvia, and my recent S14 track car, well i sold the S14 shell on and have bought a 350z roadster rolling shell with a slight ding in the ass and that is going to be my 2013 comp car.
Shell is on its way home, and drive line is getting a freshen up, some bigger injectors and E85, this should be a good build and a competitive car so im pretty pumped on it all :) Some pics below and some plans outlined as well.
5657656577565785657956580
Full cage, maybe even strut to strut
No roof
Full suspension overhaul inc coil over rear conversion
Duel caliper rear brakes with custom hydraulic handbrake
SR20DET with RB25 gearbox
3071r with steam pipe mani and 50mm pro gate
power fc
Removable Tube front with headlight mounts, rad mount, inter cooler mounts and oil cooler all integrated
Bride seats
Stack Dash :)
and im sure the list will double by time its all finished :)
more updates soon as it should be getting engine mounts and box mounts done in the next week or so
That's pretty cool. I've stumbled across the US drift stuff on tv before and always like'd the 350 roadsters with vk56's.
Leaning towards IQ3 atm, but out of stock till end of next month....
Car got here tonight, immediately regretted my decision for a few reasons,
1/ didnt ask enough questions and bought an auto! f**k, now im just getting a racing pedal box
2/ wrecker cut the f**king brake lines despite me asking for brakes to be in tact and agreeing on a price. Also missing brake booster. Again, Buying a pedal box.
3/ wrecker squashed power steering hard lines, f**k.
4/ dogged me on a tail-light
5/ door fell off car when it was on the trailer, wrecker didnt bolt it on. Need a new door and he refuses responsibility
6/ what the f**k was i thinking
7/ Just going to suck it the f**k up and finish car.
Spent the night gutting the whole car, not a bracket cable or wire left in the car. Legit bare shell now, just with suspension bolted in. Decided to re-wire car from scratch after discovering the multiple body harness's the car possessed. So will need to get a start on that oneday.
Still booked in for Engine mounts and gearbox mounts for friday, The mechanic is going to have to find 7cm in the trans tunnel to fit that rb25 box tho... Not my problem haha
pics tomorrow

i was wondering where the hell someone would find a 350z roller! gearbox that wrecker stat!
Got some work done today, finished pulling the last little things out like brackets and stuff. And went to town on the engine bay with an angle grinder to remove all the factory heat shielding for the abs sender and batter location. anyone who has seen in 350z engine bay will know what i mean. Engine fits now, Just need to run some stitches along the seams from the cuts.

got engine dummied up, gonna clearance the engine crossmember an move it back two inches tho. Give me a bit more room for everything in the engine bay and put shifter in a heaps better spot
A good friend and sponsor of me is DMP ( dylan miazek photography) and he was gracious enough to take some photos when the car returned home from engine mounts and gearbox mount being done

Also pulled out the factory fuel tank, absolute asshole in new car, all the fuel lines have been removed, except for about a foot of lines connecting to the factory fuel tank breather setup. May need to drop cradle for that cause i wont let it beat me haha.
Also spoke to Chea at powertune today, No longer going A1000 aeromotive fuel pump, will be replaced by a 2L surge tank and twin bosch 044's, guess ill need a lift pump aswell... Twin -6 fuel lines, with single return and a twin entry fuel rail. Pretty sure you cant run top feed with a standard s15 intake? need to check that, guess i greddy will be on order in that case.
And Chea really doesnt want me to leave AFM in the car, especially with V-Mount that is planned as the z32 would basically be attached to the throttle body and we are both a bit worried about that..... So this means a haltech will be going in, which will work nicely with the IQ3 dash aswell so i guess its win. Ive always ran power fc's and been nothing but happy with them n the past however.
(So S15 power fc, z32 + plug and 740cc injectors for sale $1600 EXTREMELY negotiable if anyone is keen or knows anyone haha)
Not much happening in next few weeks as im off to gold coast for a much earned holiday with my partner, then when i get back end of may it will go to get its cage sometime in june
I like your mates photos - very nicely done.

Also bought a uni mig 240 gas mig welder and a bottle of gas and started teaching myself to weld, only spent about 20 mins or so practicing so will need to step that up before i start doing all the spot welding on the car (theres a fair bit i want to do aswell)
And basically just sitting here waiting my Fab guy to make room for the car in the workshop to get its cage done
Sold my turbo kit and ordering a new kit from the USA, a Full Race Twin scroll manifold, gt3071r twin scroll with .76 rear, and twin water cooled tial gates. And hypertune have come on board and helping me get a hypertune sr20 plenum, throttle body and top feed fuel rail kit on the car which i am really pumped about!
Oh yeah forgot about this thread haha, SR was scrapped and a LS1 was sourced. Complete Fueled racing LSX conversion kit purchased and arrived including moroso sump, gearbox mounts, engine mounts, tailshaft, powersteering lines, oil filter re-locator and and billet dipstick.
Seam welded engine bay, Cage fitted, window is opulled for gussets, and ordering Monster performance clutch this week.
Will get some photos up at lunch

With a 4le60 behind it I imagine it'd be right up your alley.
