    ^I'm looking for the less peaky powerband too, even with the old set-up it was either on boost or off boost. In retrospect buying a car with factory twins would have been better, not because of outright power, just flatter torque curve. Now I'm going for both, flatter torque curve with plenty of upside built in.

      If looking for response wouldn't you only use something like 264s. Look at higher compression say 9-9.5:1 and run a smallish turbo like a GTX3076r with E85 should be fine with say 20psi. Would be on the limit around 350-370rwkw but would be a pretty interesting beast to drive ie nice wide torque band from 3000rpm onwards.

      It's your money at the end of the day but it is a shit load of coin to drop on a power level that could be easily achieved with a stocker & bolt ons. I guess if you got bored changing to a bigger turbo wouldn't be that hard.

          Just to note, Im still on the stock motor, after 4 years, and its running 370rwkw. Even the Cams are stock.

          Im happy with it, its just as quick as my mates T04Z R34 GTR with a fully built motor....which is on its 3rd build....OEM FTW!!!!

            I agree with Rona. High compression within reason is your friend (providing your tuner isn't shit). I'd say a GT35 for a 2JZ, but GTX3076R would still be like a fucking tractor.

              I don't understand why you need such a wide power and torque band if it's for track use? Unless top end is something you are sacrificing for the sake of something that is easier to control because it comes on song earlier?

                Your second question is what I am doing, we will probably not move the factory hardcut much either - predictable mid corner tractor it will be. It leaves easy upside for the future too. (bigger turbo / more boost) And for the same power level as a stocker, less heat, less boost required.

                Turbo is precision dbb 6765, may ditch the quick spool valve though, haven't decided yet. It was on boost ~500rpm earlier than the 35r on my merc with this turbo (about 3200-3400rpm).

                Cr probably around 9:1

                  Dunno nothing about turbos except they sound beautiful....but seems to me that you should just do what you want and not ask too much,your money on your honey!                     If you have to rebuild the motor and you have the dollars, just do it. Get it together, keep the boost and tuning safe, work on your driving art. Then as skills improve start winding it up.

                      ^oem is not a gt35 and serves him right for buying the gtr which can nevva loose

                      Plan for this is time attack. Can't fit it in any cams classes after the twins come off. Can't even officially do targa tassie without twins. Hence this burger is getting the lot.

                        Update:

                        Stroker ordered. Cage underway.

                        Old bloke head whisperer is suggesting keep oem cams, and with his other tricks it'll be enough for max torque at 7500rpm rev limit, dunno may still go 264s.

                        Clutch is OS twin plate, looks in good nick but while it's out will rebuild it to be sure.

                          Look into US cams, cheap upgrade that is quite common. Slighty more duration and lift from memory.

                                lookin good dude, however i disagree with your head bloke. if you have the money, going full hog on the head, and making the exhaust side flow, will give you good gains in power, response, and reduce pumping losses.

                                have a search for TK's 2J fullhouse head (and have a read of his RB26 head thread too). heaps more info there.
