a 1JZGTE auto soarer front cut can be had from between $1500 and $2500 depending on where you go and your luck. this will be more or less a straight swap AFAIK.

the 2J is by far the better engine, but you will need to do a fair bit of wiring conversion and have to accept that most odds and sods from the aristo wont fit the soarer straight up (intercooler, radiator, wiring etc etc) but an aristo front cut can be found for around the $3k mark.

these guesstimate prices are all from Zoom magazine advertisers, adelade jap being one of the more conistently cheaper ones.
    Your social better.

Auto 1J cuts are around $1500-$2000. Manual 1j cuts go for $2500-$2800 if you shop around. An auto 2j is around $4k and a manual one will be $6k-$10k.

    I vote 1j manual

Check where the sump is located on your original motor. If its a front sump use a Chaser engine and if its a rear sump use a Soarer or JZA70 Supra engine. Remember no conversion is cheap so if your are on a budget fix the old motor. I spent $7000 on my conversion and did all the work except the wiring myself. The cheapest part of the conversion is the front cut!! It adds up real fast.
