Dunlop FM901 v Dunlop LM702?

Guys,
I've ordered some of the LM702s, but am wondering if anyone has any opinion on the above tyres? They're both the same price, the LMs are supposed to last a bit longer and better performing. Tyre guy said the LMs are above the FMs in Dunlop's product range.

Being the latest tyre from Dunlop, I've ordered in some of the LMs... what do you think?

Not sure, but when the guy offered me the tyres they were cheaper and lasted longer - so I assumed they weren't as grippy

Apparently the FM901s are on backorder all over the place, so you'll find tyre places swaying you away from them.

I gave up in the long run, and put on some Azenis.

Letting them bed in for a bit, but they feel_quite_nice.

He had the FMs in stock in our size, and could've sold them to me on the spot...

I found it takes a while to get tyre shops off price and onto features, took the ol' "I don't care how much, I want the best tyre for my car" line. So he went away and came back with the LM as a better tyre and came down to the same price for me...the price surprised me, but I would think he'd want to sell me the FMs as he had them there, but instead recommended the LMs...

Oh, in in French style, I had the ol' "there's only one tyre you'd run on a Peugeot" "and that is?" "Michelin of course..."...and then proceeded to give me a price on Michelin Pilot Premacy tyres!!! They're the equivalent of the P6000s...and no thanks!

I'm considering purchasing some FM901's in the near future, or maybe some LM702's now that i've read this thread
Just wondering if anyone could tell me how much I should pay for some 205(215maybe)/60/r15's, just so I dont get totally ripped off

I've had the FM901s quoted as low as $175, but the Dunlop Super Dealer I'm buying the LM702s was amazed at that price, the best he could do was $189, and I was OK with that.

Just been surfing the Japan Dunlop site (the only other site that has the LM702 on it) and they're rated as the same as the FM901, just more comfort oriented... that makes me cringe! (http://tyre.dunlop.co.jp/tyre/lineup/index.html) My partner is saying just give them a go as we're only getting 2 now... Love to hear any comments on the LM701 too...

Oh, btw, these are 195 55 R 15, v rated. Check out the new dunlop australia website to see if you can get 205 60 or 215 60.

I have the 901's I'm happy with them...haven't heard of the other type, so it'd be interesting to find out how they pan out.

yes, been reading lots of the old threads, that's the main reason why i've been looking at the FM...Just wondering if I should be the guinea pig...

The LM701 are not bad. I got 2 and so far done at least 20-30k k's with another 2-3mm left on them. Very quiet and soft initially but hardens up a bit towards the end of its life. I would get the LM702 if only it came in 215/50R16. The only tyre that comes in that size is the Bridgestone G III.

I think I had the wool pulled over my eyes, and didn't appreciate it. The LM702 was promised to be a better tyre than the FM901, but after calling some other dealers, I found the LM702 was $20 cheaper per tyre...and, I can't help but feel he only recommended them because he would've made an extra $20. As such, I've cancelled my ordered and ordered the FM901s. I've succombed to popular opinion!

Well, picked up my FM901s today, and so far so good! Only disappointment, in typical gear junkie fashion, I found out the Yoko AVS ES100s are available in my tyre size Oh well, when these 4 wear out, I'll have to give the Yokies a go... If anyone else gives them a try let us know!

I've got LM701 on the front of a VR Commodore and Dunlop W10
on the back - used to have all 4 W10. I can safely say that the 701 are inferior to the W10s purely in terms of grip. How either compare to the FM901 I dont know. Another thing though, the W10s were great for a while - but as they wore, tramlining crept in to the point I had to get rid of them on the front. Could just be a Commodore trait though.

I am running FM901 in 195/50-15 on the sprinter and paid 145 fitted and balanced for them!

i think the 205/50 were up around the 180 mark

That's a good price! Unfortunately for us Pug owners, we run 195 55, which is a strange size that tyre companies love to charge us more for...bit of a bummer, I know.

195/55 is a better size fo rme too, but as you said, more $$$ and harder to find
