    VIC - Lowlife cruisers!!

    [rant on]
I spent my life growing up on a farm in a small town called Narbethong. Most cruisers have been through Narbethong as it’s on the other end of a fantastic twisty piece of road known as the Black Spur. As you can imagine I have driven through the Black Spur thousands of times and still to this day I enjoy it as much as the first time.

I have a place in my heart for the residents of Narbethong having known them for most of my life. It pained me today when the local shop owner rang me to ask what to do as he was at his wits end. His driveway and lawn had been ripped up for the third time since November and him and his wife were threatened on the last occasion.

I am talking about organized cruisers! On the weekend these lowlifes had blocked the city entrance to the black spur and ran time trials from 2am onwards in modified Japanese and muscle cars. Now apart from being highly illegal and stupid these idiots had the brains to upset the locals and in the process drawing even more attention they knocked of the fire hazard sign and were noted as drink driving.

The repercussions of last weekend will affect us all. The accomplishments of this group have pissed the police off so much they have reacted with immediacy unprecedented in my eyes. The Black spur is now being included in two patrolled night runs from the local police of Healsville and Alexandra as an immediate precaution. Officers have been worded up to go to town on suspected drag racers, and the locals have all been advised to take rego numbers of cars seen cruising in suspicious groups through the area. Fortunately for us the idiots that were causing the problems last weekend have had their rego plates taken and they will be contacted.

The icing on the cake was the fire hazard sign, believe it or not. It’s one of the types that warn locals of how extreme the danger was each day. Apparently these signs cost around $500 and will not be replaced for some time because the small town of Narbethong doesn’t have the immediate funds available. Just Sad.

Now I don’t have a problem with cruises normally but these idiots will fast destroy our already shrinking freedom on the roads. That really pisses me off, especially when some of the larger groups work so hard to try and remove the hoon association with all of us in our performance cars and it is all undone in one night of utter stupidity! No wonder police act on the verge of oppressive most of the time, it’s because of dickheads like this.

As I posted on the WRX forums...

FINER9 - You are very right in all that you are saying. What types of d*ckheads block off a road for a time trail. If you ask me, ones that asking for a death wish..

I hope those involved get large fines and their asses kicked.

    What can I say:

    hear! hear!

There's absolutely no place for intelligentsia such as these (sound like candidates for Darwin awards) in our society, let alone on our roads.

Nothing pisses me off more then seeing people give the 'cruising' populous a bad name. I hope they get what's coming to them, the little wankers should pay for the new sign, and do community service in your town by cleaning up the roads. Maybe that'll make 'em appreciate just how much work goes into maintaining a community.

All I can say is IDIOTS!!!!!

The black spur is a magnificent drive, both the road itself and the view along it.

The thing is that this road is the Maroondah highway which is the major access road for this region (basically the only). What sort of idiots block a highway to illegally race? I honestly hope they get caught and get whatever they have coming to them.

A sort of related story - one night coming home from a rally in Alexandria we stopped in the Healsville shell to buy petrol for the last leg of the trip. Then a handful of silvias and 180SXs arrived with a crippled mate. A 180SX that had obviously hit an armco very hard, and had damaged the chassis rail completely (looked like a write-off). He had stopped to change the space saver he had shredded.

My guess was that he was having a big go on the black spur (which is extremely dangerous considering there was a fair bit of traffic coming down it, and how wet it was)

You could always put in a couple of bucks each to buy a new sign and restore a towns idea of cruisers.

I spend a reasonable amount of time at Healesville each year with my kids. Every night you hear the idiots running time trials etc out that way. I'm all for a cruise, but not in a way that ruins the lifestyle of the people who live in the area and unfortunately, that's what these clowns seem to do.

I feel old for saying it, but I wish that the idiots that ruin it for the rest of us would just grow up

    Bozz - you're a bit further away than 15 minutes :P

I live in Healesville. We have bogans like that down here all the time (but they're from healesville).

Can I ask why the police werent called if they were blocking off the spur, and why the plate numbers of the grass offenders werent taken down, especially if threats were made?
<dan-> so just to clarify this.. your dad's defence against car theft is a swift piss on the face ?

Regarding the french cars, from what i've been able to deduce the wheel and hub are fitted together as blanks (no holes) then a man named jacques gets a drill press and drills between 2 and 7 holes in random locations, the hubs are then tapped (each hole with a different threadform to prevent the wrong bolt going into the wrong hole) and the wheel and hub are bolted together and then attached to the suspension. - Hotgemini
